Should I do it???

Ok so i went out on a limb here and tried another electrologist to see the difference between my recent one.

oddly and luckily i found a lady right around the block from me she. She use’s an Apilus Senior with gold probes :)“is this a good machine?”

She is not cpe certified but she seems to know what she is doing? after she zaps i don’t even feel the hair being pulled out, she also is really fast she cleared my whole neck almost in just an hour. and my recovery time with her is way less then my previous electrologist.the next day i have barley any whiteheads and redness unlike before!

The only thing is she prefers the flash thermolysis over the microflash that is available on this machine? she said she use to use the microflash but the results weren’t as good as compared to flash thermolysis. I am just a little confused as you guys always talk good about these new modalities such microflash, picoflash, and sychroflash?

I am also a little scared as i have dark skin and i hear thermolysis is more common for skin damage then blend? and i dont want scars!!!

Be not afraid. She has a good epilator, but most importantly, she is experienced, so it seems. Initials do not determine the physical skill part. There are many non-CPE electrologists that are simply awesome. Her epilator does not have PicoFlash or Synchro, so she can’t offer those choices to you. Nonetheless, she is removing your hair the way she has determined to do so. Just know that there are several great paths to choose going forward and they ALL work.

I treat people of color mainly and thermolysis performed correctly will not cause skin damage with the better technology available today, so, be not afraid.

Dee

2 days after treatment on the neck and upper cheeks with flash thermolysis…not cool.

Be sure and show your electrologist these pictures. She should make some adjustments that will help avoid this much reaction in the future.

is that over treatment? or just bad insertions? i am really worried all these small scabs will turn into scars?

Although I think things could be better, especially if she used the MicroFlash mode available on that machine, the post treatment stuff we talked about would help clear this up in no time at all, if not keep it from happening. Tea Tree Oil overnight, and Aloe Vera during the day, along with zinc, vitamin A, C, & E will help you build good strong skin, and work on relieving the acne problem as well.

So your saying that it is ok that i have scabs all over my neck???
I can take the zinc, vitamin a,c,&e all in pill form? or are you saying just in my eating habits??

Because of the rather large therapeutic doses needed to effect change, supplement pills are a great option here. One would need 150 to 300 mg of zinc, 100,000 IU of A, 1,000 to 2,000 of E, and vitamin C is something you could take 1,000 mg per hour if you got calcium ascorbate.

As for the scabs… As Dee has already said, you probably would not look like that if she or I did your work, but this result is not out of the scope of ordinary. One is more likely to get this result if it is hot, and or one gets sweaty during the first 24 hours after the work is done. You should heal up in no time.

Ok thanks james  i just went and bought all those vitamins from the vitaminshoppe.
so should I have her use the microflash on me or no??

If she can do MicroFlash with skill, then that would be great. You are not going to get scars. These are temporary skin manifestations. I see some puss. Use the tea tree oil at bedtime. Your electrologist can aim higher to try and get this hair off without all this scabbing. What do you do after you leave the office? Aftercare is important and following other instructions is important.

So i have been now getting the MicroFlash done  and she seems to know what she is doing with it? the hairs slide right out besides maybe a few slight tugs here or there and if so she zaps it again. The scabbing and redness is way less then the normal flash too which is awesome!

I am curious though, how do you know if the hairs are being treated effectively? cause when she shows me,the hair the bulb “black thing” is on there but no sheath? I always thought and effectively treated hair has the clear sheath at the end? If anyone could post a picture of a effectively treated after microflash that would be great just so i know i am getting the effective treatment.

Now also i have posted pictures below of my neck, one the areas being treated cause i have like little black dots and i dont know what they are? They look like pinpoint scabs that i get usually after treatment.Im almost sure though that they are not cause the area has not been treated for over 2 weeks and when i do get scabs they go away within 7 days
I think they are hair that is under the skin that are growing back from previous treatment? I really don’t know but there noticeable so they bother me if anyone can tell me if this is normal, or good or bad it would really help me out.

Thanks everyone

Can anyone please help me out with this question stated above? Its greatly appreciated

Perhaps the root sheath is peeling off when the hair is lifted out? It is hard for me to see the black dots. Are you sure those are not pinpoint scabs? Some hairs may be in transition between the growing and shedding stage, so they may not have the covering (root sheath). If the hair slides out nicely, that is a good sign. Time will tell though and judgement can be made that the hairs treated in December 2010 are permanently gone when there are hardly any hairs left in December of 2011. Trust! Electrolysis works, but it takes time because it is a process that can only go as fast as the hairs that present themselves from 0-18 months.

I think your skin and healing looks fantastic. I would ask your electrologist about the black dots you are seeing. Ask her why some hairs have no root sheaths, too.

Sorry for the delay in answering your question, Jhair.

Yes, I agree with Dee, it must be the outer sheath when it is trapped in the follicle treated.

I found something similar in this picture. As I’ve noticed over the years, the black spots are removed when the healing process reaches the follicle entrance. You must not do anything, your skin will do everything necessary to get everything outside should not be there.

Is she/he the same electrologist at the beginning of your thread?
I still think his/her work is very good.

Do these pepper spots occur after every electrolysis treatment?

No, not for me as a rule, but it can happen.

Sorry i haven’t been on here in couple days. but thanks so much for your replies. I really appreciate it:)

So i went for my treatment again today.I was asking her about why the hairs have a bulbs but no sheath? and she said pretty much the same you guys said above. “Some hairs are in a certain phase of growth that make the sheath not really show up sometimes or have less nutrition feeding to the hair follicle” and then she just happened to pull a hair with sheath and was like here you go and showed how they look with sheath on it  which i must say it is very fascinating!

So here are some pictures of my neck about 20 minutes after treatment. take a look!

I look like a redneck! this is normal i think?

Oh yeah and what is anyone’s thought on using tend skin immediately after electrolysis??

i use it right after some of my treatments and i really feel it takes down the redness almost instantly. I just don’t know if its any good for the healing process after electrolysis?

I think your neck looks fine. I personally would gently massage witch hazel on your neck, put a light coating of tree tea oil, on and then slather on cold from the fridge aloe vera clear gel. A few of my clients like Tend Skin after electrolysis. Don’t use it if you are allergic to aspirin.

I’m very happy that you talked to your electrologist about root sheaths. That’s great.

Is scabbing on the neck and the face SOMETIMES unavoidable? i mean its weird??? like one week i get treated on my neck and i don’t barley have any scabs at all beside maybe a few. Then other weeks when i get treated i have scabs in almost every follicle that was treated? this week i also had tiny scabs on my upper cheeks which i thought was not normal cause you should never scab on your face? Atleast that’s what i thought…

Is this signs of bad treatment, inaccurate insertions, energy levels to high, wrong size probes, or just me over reacting cause i do not want to get scarred?

She is still using the microflash with gold probes, and last time i asked her what size probe she is using? “she said like 5 or 6” i cant remember exact. she seems to know what she is doing i am just worried about scarring cause i would not know what i would do if i got scarred.

my neck is also like darker and of course more red in the area being treated than my normal skin tone? idk why this is but even a week after treatment when scabbing and redness have subsided it still is kind of discolored? is this hypopigmentation?

just a little motivation here guys :frowning:
