It looks a little rough, but it will heal just fine. Use witch hazel and aloe during the day and witch hazel, tea tree oil and aloe at bedtime. THe Clareblend UltraBlend is a highly decent epilator and will give you permanent results, however, an Apilus Platinum or Pure, Silhouet Tone VMC would be great and leave your skin looking much better with more hairs removed per minute providing the skill factor is present.
What would happen if one got full clearance each session (on hair with long growth cycles, eg. 3+ months instead of facial hair which seems to take weeks) rather than catching hairs as they grow every few weeks? Would that be equally as successful?
I wouldn’t go longer than 6-8 weeks between treatments after full clearance. My goal is to get clearance each and every time. It gets better and better as the months pass. If you can lay on the table long enough for a clearance every time, then so much the better. If the electrologist is set up to do longer appointments, so much the better. If not, it will be slower going and perhaps a little more frustrating, but you will still get to the end eventually.
Yes Smurf, it’s equally effective. The advantage of extending the intervals between the clearances is to reduce the number of clearances.
The main reason for recommending intervals of 6 to 8 weeks between the clearances is that you can have a normal social life without having to resort to temporary hair removal systems.
4 months after the first clearance:
When it comes to a very fine hair, the time required to perform the second clearance to exceed three months.
If we want to see soon the results (extensive bald areas), we must wait long enough to work with a maximum of hairs present.
In the second clearance, the bald areas together to provide a uniform skin without a trace of hair.
OK, so I just got my 4th treatment of electrolysis and the results are going pretty well as far as i can tell. almost every hair my electrolysis zaps slides right out without any pulling beside maybe a few. pain is there but bearable “except of the sides of my neck it hurts like hell there!” i think cause i have a lot of muscle on the sides of my neck?
she seems to know what she is doing besides the fact that she has an old school machine “clareblend ultrablend” but i think her skill makes up for it.
Now i was just been thinking and this has been my biggest fear since i first started electrolysis, is healing time and SCARRING!
how can i tell if she is scarring me at all? I mean after i get out of electrolysis my skin is red and swollen for about 2-3 days. also i get little white pimples the day after treatment “as you can see in the pictures above” even if i do use tea tree oil the night before. but i haven’t see any scabbing at all! since I’ve started treatment with her? now is this normal? and are there any signs i should be looking for that can tell me if she is scarring the area at all?
Also my skin even 5-6 days after treatment, looks a little beat up like some bumpiness and redness. Not nearly as bad as immediately after treatment! And its weird to it only shows more on my right cheek where the hair is more dense and thicker and not really at all on my left one? is this normal or no? i mean i know electrolysis is a very invasive treatment and maybe the area is still somewhat healing?
also “depilacionelectr” what type of machine is your electrolysis using on you? the skin looks so good and like it has never been touched!?!?! does your skin look like only 5-6 days after treatment or is that cause its been 4 months since you last had electrolysis???
No Jhair, that’s not me. She is a young woman of 24 years.
My intention was to show Smurf, that the long intervals between the clearances do not impair the success of treatment. On the contrary, it allows seeing the results sooner.
The photos were taken 4 months after the last session of electrolysis. Indeed, the skin looks as good as if it had never been touched. However, you can see large bald in the center of the sternum. This was done with the Apilus Platinum (PICOFLASH, one of the thermolysis systems). The hairs was so thin that the tissue damage was minimal. For faster results, treatment is initiated with a maximum of emerging hairs. This means that 2 hairs very close together, they must be treated independently. The skin responded very well as you can see in the pictures.
I have seen your pistures and even though your skin seems to have a tendency to hyperpigmentation, do not worry. Brown spots disappear within weeks. Use a sunscreen. You must know that your hairs are thick and the follicles are deep, so your skin take longer to heal. Everything is going good on you.
Congratulations!!!
If your skin is back to normal without any marks after a week or so, you’re not being scarred. And you shouldn’t be retreating any area that hasn’t healed yet.
Here is my skin on my upper cheeks just about a week after treatment?
right cheek.for some reason has more trauma then the left?
left cheek.
Does everything look normal? or is there chances of scarring?
The hair on the right may be more dense and/or the hair there is more difficult to treat than on the other side. It is not uncommon.
What is your aftecare routine like, Jhair?
Tea tree oil immediately after I get home from treatment. Then witch hazel for days and tea tree oil for night time.
Do you use any moisturizers, facewashes, and other things with harsh chemicals meanwhile?
Jhair, thanx for the uploads. I am doing a similar thing. Working the neck right now as it is prone to ingrowns. I am a black male and I to get the redness, swelling and white pustules. Also have been getting some scabbing. With me though it seems all the hairs are not removed. I mean they are no longer attached to the follicle but still remain on skin until they flake off. Is that an acceptable outcome for electrolysis? Thermolysis being used.
No not at all while I been having electrolysis. I use a tea tree bar of Sope to wash my face and body but that’s it?
Exactly 48 hours after my blend electrolysis? is this how i am supposed to look? im kind of worried! should i find another electrolysis?
Left Cheek
Right Cheek

and i keep getting like these ingrown zits? there like black heads! not like the white head ones i get the day after electrolysis? are these ingrown hairs?
James please let me know what you think!
I see no ingrown hairs. I see open comedones (they are the ones with a black head). I also see closed comedones (they are the ones with a small white lump). Neither of these things are caused by Electrolysis.
The electrolysis was able to cause breakouts as a result of inactive primary lesions such as comedones. It is convenient to remove the comedones in an area that will be subject to Electrolysis.
So is this or is this not normal 48 hours after treatment or is it?
And I don’t understand. are you saying the electrolysis is or isn’t causing these red marks and acne like bumps? I mean I have very slight acne to begin with, but I have never had anything like that until I started electrolysis?
Is this overtreatment? I’m afraid if I keep on going this is going to turn into scarring!
James can answer you later.
I think it could look better, but I don’t think you have to worry about scarring. This is why we suggest you try out as many practitioners as you can so you can feel, see and compare. Wash your face with a mild soap, use witch hazel, dab tea tree oil on at bedtime, put some aloe vera gel on top of the tea tree oil, don’t touch your face, don’t let the dog lick your face, change your pillow case, apply all aftercare products with clean hands, cotton balls, cotton swabs…etc. First treatments are the roughest if you are going to have any reaction at all.
Does your electrologist do any thermolysis modalities like MicroFlash or PicoFlash? I just had the privilege of working 8 or so hours on James’ beard (hard to tell with all the talking and eating). He’s all clear and it was done with PicoFlash thermolysis. I thought his skin looked great afterwards, but he can tell you what he thinks when he gets back to Buffalo today. His hair is very curvy and is actually the most challenging of all the cases I have ever done, maybe even tougher than what you have.
I don’t like these kind of skin reactions because they embarrass the client. It does happen and sometimes it just can’t be avoided. In addition, the electrologist has no idea what the client does when she or he leaves the office. I do like the Pico or Microflash modalities because it assists with a better skin reaction. Whether it be Blend or Thermolysis, the practitioner has to control insertions, intensity and timing to try and minimize the skin reaction. Be patient and perform good after care. Tea tree soap is fine, but should not replace the essential oil of the tea tree. Go easy with the tea tree oil as it can dry the skin and keep it red for longer than necessary.
Dee
Jhair, for your age and seborrheic skin a little, it is normal to see small breakouts. Inflammation and the small trauma of Electrolysis can influence the comedones evolve into another type of condition, pimples. You have pimples are not severe, so it will not scar.
I do not see any signs of overtreatment, nor I can tell the area that has been treated. I gather that is the top line on the perimeter of the beard.
Like Dee, I also prefer the thermolysis in the form of Flash, it is very fast and minimizes injuries. But the work you have done is very good. Apply tea tree to neutralize the pus. Also applied to the insertion of your nostrils, it appears that you have something of seborrheic dermatitis. Above all, you should not drain the acne pimples with your nails!!!
For healing of your skin from both the acne and the electolysis, increase your intake of zinc, vitamin C, vitamin E and vitamin A. Lack of these things can cause acne and dermatitis.
