Should I be planning on tipping my laser person?

I bought a 6 treatment package through one of the online coupon deals, I’m amazed at how much the prices have come down on laser hair removal, I paid for all 6 about what I was quoted that each session would cost about 4 or 5 years ago! Plus, the place uses the type of laser that I’ve learned on here is best for my skin and hair type, it was too good a deal to pass up!

Anyway, I noticed in the fine print where it says “tax and gratuity” not included, I don’t know if that’s the fine print on every deal they sell or if its specific to this one. That got me thinking, am I supposed to tip whoever does the “lasering”? I would think that if we think of laser hair removal as more of a medical procedure, the answer would be “no”, could you imagine slipping say your dental hygenist a $20 after he/she cleans your teeth? I bet that would get a weird look! Yet, if you go and get your hair cut or some other “beauty” type procedure and you just pay the bill and don’t leave a tip, don’t expect any big thank you smile from the person that just cut your hair, people in that business count on their tips.

So, just wondering what the usual is here and if so, how much would you tip?

I was actually curious about this too. Could someone chime in?

I have never left a tip for laser places, and I don’t think most expect you too. I haven’t heard of anyone else tipping either. Laws (at least for CA but I think most states follow suit) suggest that LHR is a medical procedure and not a simple “beauty” treatment

I would say no tipping.

However, logic says that maybe people should tip for something permanent like electrolysis and laser reduction. After all, when you are finished - you are finished for a lifetime. Hair stylists, barbers and manicurists expect tips even though the services they provide need to be repeated every 6 weeks? every three months? forever!
Of all people, hair removal specialists deserve to be tipped for offering a permanent solution.
