An interesting story out of Australia: they have developed a commercial method to inject a protein into sheep which causes their wool to fall out over several weeks:

Obviously, human use of anything similar is a long way off, but I’ll keep you posted on any developments!
PBS had coverage of this topic about 7 to 10 years ago. Seems like they’ve been working on it for years.
Call me a pessimist, but I’m under the belief that they, as in doctors, have given up on trying to develop a new treatment for hair removal in favor of letting the laser industry run the show.
I’m not kidding; look up “clinical hair removal research”, you’re not going to find anything beyond new laser and IPL mods.
And if you go to sites like Pubmed.org, where they publish new discoveries and developments in the medical field, there is nothing current that is not over a decade old, even if you fallow the links to the original articles, there are no new updates.
