Shedding

I had my first laser treatment done this past Saturday (4 days ago). I am a 41 year old male Type II with dark hair. I had a full bikini (brazilian). They used the GentleLase on the Alexandrite setting. I had some redness for a few days but that seems to be going away. It is still slightly red around the folicles but everything feels fine.

My question is how long before I should see any shedding? Right now it is starting to grow out and if you pull on the hairs they do not pull out. Should the hairs be easy to fall out at this point or should they feel like they are still attached? I am not plucking any hairs just checking a few here and there.

Thanks

Sounds like you had a good first treatment, which is always exciting. Shedding can take up to three weeks. You can gently exfoliate the area in the shower to help the process along later on.

Thanks for the reply. So it is normal that it doesn’t pull out yet?

Sorry but you how newbies are…

Yes.

Hair doesn’t usually start shedding until 1.5 weeks after the treatment or so and lasts up to 3-3.5 weeks. So please be patient. Don’t exfoliate just yet.

Btw, GentleLASE IS an alexandrite laser. Would be great if you can find out joules and spot size being used on you.

Redness around the follicles is a good sign.
