Shaving

I use a Braun epilator which has a shaving/trimming attachment so I tried the shave mode but it doesn’t seem to cut the hair down to the bottom, it is like a trim, the hairs are left at a very small length which won’t be good for laser, am I doing something wrong?

Maybe it’s only a trimmer? Why don’t you buy a razor? It will do the job no problem. Anyway, if there are bits that you didn’t do properly, the technician will go over them before starting.

It’s a trimmer and also has a shaver. Just doesn’t seem to be as good as I thought. How do I avoid razor burns - by using the gel that LAgirl mentioned?

You won’t get razor burns. Get a Gilette Venus for women, it has 3 blades and moisture strips. Usually you can get them in a pack with a few replaceable heads. I don’t bother to use the gel but you can if you want. Trust me, it’s super easy. You just need to do it, not worry

Lol okay : ) Thank you, I’ll check it out soon.

I use Gilette Venus with Gilette Shaving GEL for Women. I find this works best. Also soaking the area for 5-10 mins first or doing it after the shower helps.

Really? I thought that would make it harder as the hair will be kind of wet or a different texture.

There’s so many different tpes which one do I choose? :s

Stop making this so hard! A razor is a razor, just go for the cheapest Venus. I mean when nothing else is to hand, a 15p Bic Razor will do the job even!

The soaking/shower and gel will all aid in getting a closer shave.

LOL I’m overly confused when I learn new things but once I have got the hang of it after one try I get it. : p One day I will be an expert at advising at what razors to purchase. I know, I over react too much nowadays - more like being extra careful and not getting anything wrong.

Which ones do you guys use?

They make it confusing my offering so many different kinds lol.

What area are you concerned about shaving? The bikini area? I would just use the same razor you’ve been using on your legs. I use the Schick Quattro on my legs and it’s just as great on my bikini line. Honestly, choosing a razor is really not that big of a deal because any 4-5 blade razor will give you the same result. It’s all a matter of personal preference. It’s not like laser where the brand you pick is going to make a huge difference in your results.

I don’t understand the blade issue, so if someone can just pick one for me that would be easier. I’ve never used a razor before. I’d be using it probably wherever for laser.

Thank you!

Hi:

I prefer the Venus Embrace with the 5 blades plus the Satin Care Gel in whatever fragrance you prefer. I find it is easy to use, has a good handle and the pivoting head seems to be great on the curves. Also I encounter a lot less knicking with this model.

Alicia

 LAgirl, do you use any of the two mentioned by the posters?

hun, they are all essentially the same. the only difference between the divine and the embrace is that the embrace as 5 blades, therefore maybe a slightly quicker shave. they both have pivoting heads.

whichever you get, you cannot go wrong with! with regular shaving, you will be out of heads eventually, so you can try a different one! when i first started shaving, i’d try and different brand each time i repurchased. it just comes down to preference, they all do the same job. if you miss anything, the laser technician will shave it again anyway. i don’t even shave that carefully as i’m always in a rush, so there are always spots they have to shave again before starting.

Okay so let me learn about more about these things.

The head is just the shaving part of it right?

Why would it run out? What happens to it? Yes you can tell I’ve never used one before. :expressionless:

Lol, okay. You get two kinds of razor, the cheap disposable ones where the head is attached to the body (so you discard the whole thing) and the more robust type where the head can be changed.

So far you have been looking at the one’s with changeable heads, which are preferable in my opinion. After a while of using a razor, the blades will become blunt and stop shaving so effectively so it’s time to remove that head, throw it away and replace with a new one. As recommended above, you may want to keep one head for legs/arms and another for bikini, so you’d be using 2 at the same time. I put some permanent marker on the bikini one so I can tell the difference.

Everything else is explained clearly on the back of the pack.
