Shaving/trimming during pause in treatment causes reversion?

Hi all,
I’m trans mtf and have been undergoing electrolysis for around six months to remove my facial hair, but have had to pause treatment due to a medical condition. I’ve had around 65 hours and this has completed one clearance on one cheek/side & two on the other.

The hair regrowth that I’m experiencing is much finer and mostly lighter than originally, but it’s getting quite long and becoming distressing. I have been told by my electrologist that I shouldn’t touch it at all if possibly, but that I can trim it if absolutely necessary. She told me that shaving would cause it to revert to its original state. Obviously this is very concerning as this has been a huge investment in money, time and energy. She uses the blend method.

From what I read shaving shouldn’t cause reversion; is this correct?

It could be months before I can return and I can’t be stuck like this, but nor can I risk undoing everything that’s been done.

I would greatly appreciate advice.

Thank you so much :relaxed:

Shaving will not cause any reversion. In fact, most of my clients shave their faces between appointments until we reach the last 3-6 months of treatments. It’s not really workable to expect transitioning clients to let their facial hair grow for the two weeks in between treatments.

Shaving has no permanent effect on hair growth.

Thank you  I would have confronted the notion sooner, but due to the regularity of the sessions (3x1hr/week) it wasn’t practical, or largely necessary, to shave the treatment areas between them. Thank you again.

Thank you
