Sharing milestones...

I posted a while back about my decision to start electrolysis after years of hiding in shame and obsessing over my problem. I started going to weekly appointments in February of this year, only missing 4 appointments so far. I’ve been very diligent about my schedule.

I recently just hit two MAJOR (to me) milestones and I just wanted to share my successes with anyone who’s still unsure about electrolysis.

First, a couple weeks ago my electrologist told me that it was time to lessen my appointments from one hour a week two 45-minutes a week. This doesn’t sound like much, but it is to me! It’s a step in the right direction and it means that things are WORKING.

Second, and this one means more to me emotionally: This week was the first time since high school that I did not have to shave my face. Before starting electrolysis, I would shave every day in the shower, and have to touch up again later in the day if I wanted to go out anywhere. The shaving has been less and less frequent, and I was down to 2 or 3 times a week in-between treatments. I’ve noticed that my electrologist has been digging out a lot of ingrowns lately, so I asked about it and she said that the shaving certainly wasn’t helping them any. So I decided to give it a try this week and just not shave at all. I did it, and I don’t look so bad at ALL. I have been clipping the hairs that are there with scissors, but most of them are so thin that they are barely noticeable under my makeup. But even then, I spent literally 30 seconds - 1 minute a day this week clipping. Before, I spent 15 minute or more a day tweezing, plus all the shaving I had to do and stubble I have had to hide.

I still have a ways to go, but my problem is SO, SO, SO much better than it was 8 months ago. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, and I have to say that all the money and time I have spent on this has been WORTH IT!!!

All I can say is good for you and you have my congratulations! Like so many things in life, you get out of them what you put into them. Whle your electrologist is obviously doing their job, you should be proud of sticking to your schedule and doing your part as well!

Hugs!

Beautiful! Sharing this milestone is as good as gold. You started at rock bottom and had a lot of psychological stuff happening because of the hair. All is progressing well enough with you now even though you are not totally completed yet, but that day is coming! Your story illustrates the reality of how permanent hair removal works, so thanks for coming back, skr.

Those definitely are milestones, because it means you’re close to the finishing post! Well done <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Milestones! Yes! I know the feeling. The feeling of a hair area gone forever, real progress, after all the years of fuss, is so exhilarating. It makes you feel so much better.
