Hi all,
Hoping for some professional and lived experience replies please.
I have noticed through scouring the internet that several individuals have finished their journey of electrolysis and found they still have a “shadow” present. The causes usually said to be;
- Dormant follicles - more treatment actually needed or,
- Temporary pigmentations - it’s the skin not the hairs (which is why there aren’t any hairs visible!)
- The most interesting I found - there was a complex structure of blood supply supporting follicles previously and it has remained after treatment and may slowly fade after the body realises there is no use for said supply anymore.
I have seen several posts of people sure they are complete with treatment, no hairs just shadow particularly in the upper lip. Can anyone share some advice on whether option 3 is true in their experience?
I am currently undergoing electrolysis. I was able to shave for many years with no shadow and could cover up with light makeup, however in the last year perhaps due to hormones or ageing I noticed a shadow on my upper lip, like a green tint only localised to the area and commenced permanent hair removal in hopes to remove this.
I have lost some hope in the sense that several people have posted (mostly on reddit) about this lingering issue and are told it is likely option 1 or 2 from the above or dysphoria. I think this may negate that several people have the experience of the shadow remaining post-treatment; whether it is temporary or not is what I seek to understand with your help!
