Settings on Nd:Yag for skin type V (thighs)

I was wondering if someone would be able to tell me if the settings used on me for my first treatment are good. I have skin type 5 (Indian ethnicity). I had my upper legs done. Going in for my second treatment soon. The treatment wasn’t terribly painful, stung in some parts. Also I did have good even shedding.

Thanks for the input

Settings: 35 Jcm, 40 Ms, 12mm spot size
Machine used: Cynosure Elite machine - Nd:Yag laser

Those are ok settings for your skin type. They can test to see if they can go higher. Pulse width could go a bit lower and joules a bit higher to see if your skin can handle it safely. Let us know how shedding goes.

Does there have to be full regrowth before I go back for my next session? its been 7 weeks and there has been no new growth but i do feel stubble which is not really visible.

Also would a larger spot size help? I thought I read somewhere the larger the spot size the further the laser penetrates? Thanks

It’s best to wait until most new hair comes in if you want to have fewer treatments overall. There is no benefit to treating too early.

If they’re able to use a larger spot size on you, it’s always better. But they would likely have to adjust the joules to compensate.

Hi LAGirl,

Knowing that you are one of the most if not the most knowledgeable poster on Hairtell I hope you can help me out with a post where I haven’t been getting very helpful advice.

I can’t get a refund and would like to proceed with the treatments knowing that I can get good results with the machine as long the technician will cooperate.

Please let me know what you think would be proper settings for my skin type and if you have any words of advise on how I should deal with the technician when I talk to her about this.

Thanks so much
