Sciton Alexandrite vs. GentleLASE?

I have my treatment scheduled with a place that uses GentleLASE, which I understand to be one of the best lasers out there.

I just got a phone call from another place which I was referred to (by another provider that was too far away from me) who uses Sciton. They said they have a 1064 Scanning, a BDL, and a 532 Midlight … One of these is an Alexandrite. Whichever one it is … is there any info out there about it, and if it compares to the GentleLASE at all? Their prices are considerably cheaper, so I’m wondering if it’s not as effective and thus takes more treatments. (For instance, their brazillian bikini price is only 125 per treatment?)

Sciton is a YAG, thus the 1064nm wavelength. This is described in the FAQs. If you’re light enough for GentleLASE, you’ll get better results with it. YAGs are meant for darker skin. They will still work on the very coarse hair, but they won’t work as well after a few treatments when the hair becomes more fine and more shallow.

Hmmm. That’s weird. He specifically said they had an alexandrite (which is why I was confused, since I went to the Laser models sticky and couldn’t find any Sciton alexandrite.) Maybe I missed the name of it. Oh well! Thanks again for the help.
