Scared and need advice. Possible scarring.

Hi all,

Im an indian male, brown skin, late 20s.

Had lhr done before 10 yrs ago with a lightsheer. Worked partially but obviously wasnt right for my skin type. Got burnt twice but no scars in the end.

Recently had lhr done with a yag. 5 weeks ago. About to go in for the second tx.

I had good results and reduction. But i noticed a black mark under my jawline that was definitely not there before.

I am worried about getting more tx now. Is the mark going to fade in time?

Could it be from the lightsheer 10 yrs ago and i somehow didnt notice?

My main issue here is, how do i prevent this from happening again as much as a patient can do so, short of stopping the tx.

What kind of mistakes can a technician make to cause a burn like this?

Ty

Hard to see if its an open wound/scab or hyperpigmentation (you don’t always need a burn/scab to get pigmentation)?

Double pulsing or pulsing too close to each other can cause a single burn mark. If it’s just one “mark” or wound you should be fine, if there are multiple marks then it’s either an energy or technique issue.

Best thing you can do is to slather on the sunscreen and keep any suntans to minimum. Let him/her know you possibly got burnt and decide for yourself if you still feel comfortable having the technician continue working on you.
