I had a couple little spider angioma (we think) spots on face treated. There are now a couple of scabs in their place. Is it better to use sunscreen on these scabs even on cloudy days to try to cut down on chance of hyper pigmentation or is it better to not put anything on top of these scabs to keep it clean. I do use very natural sunscreen which is mainly just zinc based. Its not very sunny here but do we require the use of sunscreen post zapping , ie can just the days uv light outside be enough to be a problem post E?
Also i wonder approximately how long do post zap body work bumps and spots take to clear ?
The area will still be clean even when you apply an SPF agent. Even on cloudy days you are still exposed to UVA/UVB light. Is sunlight alone going to cause hyper pigmentation? Probably not… Over-treatment does.
Just a heads up, the ‘natural sunscreen’ your using probably isnt a broad spectrum sunscreen so you’re not getting the full benefit of SPF. UVA light is the main culprit of premature skin aging which penetrates into the lower skin levels causing damage.
Body ‘bumps’ should subside within 1-2 days. Scabbing and redness may take anywhere from a week - two weeks. Anything over two weeks and - “Uh oh, that’ll leave a mark” … usually.
I use very simple , Zinc based sunscreens and try to use very natural ones as I really do care about what I flush ultimately down the water and into the reefs and fishes of this world!
Just found this great article with very useful links…http://wakeup-world.com/2012/05/14/natural-sunscreen/
Telangiectasia and work on skin growths is a little different from hair removal, in that one is always breaking through the skin and causing much more damage in the treatment area than simple hair removal would. It will all pass in due time.
I encountered a woman who I worked on in Las Vegas, while we were both in the Washington DC area, and 3 years post treatment, she still doesn’t have the growths, her skin is a uniform color for the first time in decades, and she is, needles to say, very happy with her results.
On the subject of sun exposure management, while I won’t go into my own beliefs on that subject here, I will say that you should be sure to insure that you get a healthy amount of vitamin B-6 and D-3 on a daily basis. A handful of raw organic sunflower seeds would tend to give you the full spectrum of B vitamins on a daily basis. Fish like Salmon and Tuna naturally contain Vitamin D.
Vitamin D-3 (since it is more absorbable than D-2, less does more than the same amount of D-2)
Question: Nutrition FAQ: How Much Sun Exposure Do I Need for Vitamin D?
Answer: Your body makes vitamin D when your skin is exposed to the ultraviolet B (UVB) rays in sunlight. You probably need from 5 to 30 minutes of exposure to the skin on your face, arms, back or legs (without sunscreen) two times every week. Since exposure to sunlight is a risk for skin cancer, you should use sunscreen after a few minutes in the sun, even on hazy or cloudy days.
The amount of exposure also depends on the time of the year. In the northern hemisphere, the UVB rays are more intense during the summer months and less intense during the winter months. In fact, if you live north of the 42-degree latitude, you’ll have a difficult time getting enough sun exposure from November through February. Picture a map of North America. If you live north of a line drawn on a map from the northern border of California to Boston, Massachusetts, you will probably need to get additional vitamin D from the foods you eat (or from supplements) during the winter months, even if you do go outside every day.
The intensity of UVB rays is also reduced by clouds, pollution and UVB will not travel through glass, so sitting next to a window will not give you enough sunlight to make vitamin D.
calcium deficiency.
Vitamin D isn’t found in many foods. You won’t get any from plant-based foods unless it’s added to them. Vitamin D is naturally found in oily fish like tuna and salmon, but most of the time its added. Milk, soymilk and breakfast cereals are usually fortified with vitamin D (and maybe other nutrients - check the label). You can also take vitamin D supplements, which are often found in multiple vitamins, calcium-vitamin D products, or as single nutrients. There are several forms of vitamin D and some supplements are labeled as vitamin D2 or vitamin D3. Although your body absorbs more vitamin D3, it doesn’t really make much difference because you’ll get enough with either type of vitamin D as long as you follow the directions on the label.
A vitamin D deficiency leads to weak bones. We probably need to do more than take supplements to prevent bone fractures. Learn more: Vitamin D and Calcium Supplements Probably Not Enough.
