San Diego Electrolysis?

Im quite new here and looking for some advice. I’ve tried searching for local electrolysis professionals without much luck. Does anyone have anyone they would personally recommend in the SD region? I’d also be willing to travel north if suitable. To be honest Im not one to schedule multiple appointments, Id much rather find a reliable, proven technician and go from there. Thanks.

Hmm, 27 views and no responses? It seems this field is very limited in talent and results vary greatly. Just need a bump start I guess.

Hej Drew …

I know lots of electrologists, but I only recommend Karen Stathis (also in Santa Barbara) because I personally know her work to be superior (she has worked on me). So, what’s the deal for you? You are going to have to start your hunt, knowing that nearly all electrologists in your area are pretty darn good. Seriously, I think the best electrologists in the world are in San Diego. Several work with physicians and are using local anesthetic — for male body hair, that makes all the difference in the world.

Start with the site below and call a few people in your area. Outline to them what you want and have them give you specifics as to what they can accomplish. Estimates are impossible over the phone, but find out if they are versed in your “special area,” whatever that might be.

Go for it! I had my back cleared 25 years ago and it’s still clear.

Hello Dreww,
I have seen San Diego is very close from Santa Barbara. If I were you, I would travel there, I would plant on the door of Michael and I will not go until he agreed to treat me. This is what I would do after seeing the effectiveness of his work and the response of the skin after treatment.

Good luck and do not take a “NO” for an answer.

^hehe. i agree.

On behalf of the poster, I will point out that to say that Santa Barbara is close to San Diego, is like saying Pittsburgh is close to Buffalo. While a 4 hour drive each way, may be ok once every 6 weeks, I don’t know many who would want to do that once a week.

From Pittsburgh to Buffalo is one third of the distance from New York to Buffalo?
James, I know some people have traveled from New York to be treated by you.
This is the price of fame, my friend, that there is no corner where you can hide.

Not to mention driving through Los Angeles traffic… I’d rather take a match and just burn the hair off. Probably would be less painful.

I think there was a recommendation on this forum for someone named Wendy at the New Image Electrolysis Center. I’ve never used her, but I’ve heard she is good. My dermatologist gave me the recommendation of someone named Jade Easton in Solana Beach. I went to her once or twice and she seemed alright. If I had the time, I would be tempted to drive to Santa Barbara myself to see Michael.

Run a search on this forum. There are several good electrologists in San Diego who have been mentioned in the past. Those members are no longer regulars, so their posts are buried. Just do an Advanced Search and expand results to last 5 years.

Wow, good replies, thank you. I’ve thought about contacting Michael but driving there weekly would be tough. Im looking to rid of the hair around my neck (collar line). It should be too bad hopefully. I will try the search function again and see if someone genuine pops up around my area otherwise a little traveling will be in my future.

You don’t need to go in weekly. If you’re doing long enough treatments to clear the area at each treatment, you only need to go in once a month or so.

There are definitely lots of electrologists in San Diego, Orange County, and LA. As mentioned, run a search here. Also, run a search at www.Yelp.com and start having some free consultations and sample treatments.

I would recommend Wendy Golden at New Image in the Kearny Mesa area. I went to her for a year or longer. Rochelle Kimberling at Hair Free Solutions (619) 223-6131 in the Rosecrans area is also good. She needs a newer machine though. maybe she has a new machine and is doing flash method by now, I don’t know, but that lady can do great insertions. Richard Tanner in Hillcrest is also a blend method electrologist and is really fast. He works at Executive Face and Body (619) 200-5134. Good luck. Wendy’s a perfectionist, Rochelle is superfriendly, and Richard is really cool and has all these dog statues in his office. I don’t regularly come by anymore. It was just a fluke I came by today and remembered my password lol, so sorry for the late response.

I was hoping you’d weigh in, Mantaray

Thanks for the detailed post Mantaray, I will make some phone calls next week. Oh, if someone can chime in, what would be the going hourly rate? Thanks.

You have to ask them. It varies anywhere from $50-110 across the country. It’s more important to see how many hairs they remove per minute, since that’s what you’re paying for. If they cost little, but are very slow, there isn’t any savings.
