I’ve been dealing with this unwanted back hair for over 10 years now, and I’ve finally got the courage to do something about it. I went to 2 consultations & I think I’ve decided where to go, and I’m ready for the treatments.
One question still bothers me…the relative unknown about the long term safety of laser hair removal. I’ve always been paranoid about my health, and my main fear is that something terrible will happen in the future as a result of my laser treatments. Is this an silly fear or is it something I really need to be concerned about. Enough to delay my treatments even further, which is something I really don’t want to do.
Millions of people get lased worldwide. This has been going on for over 10 years that laser hair reduction has been cleared. We don’t know what the long term effects are on the skin, but study after study concludes that laser hair reduction appears safe.
The thing you need to do is research which laser will be the most effective for your situation. You need to find a technician that can deliver the energy with expertise.
Have you read about other men’s experiences with lasering back hair? Study hairtell and www.cosmeticenhancementsforum.com so you can understand the whole picture and go into this with your eyes wide open.
The light cannot go as deep as organs. The energy is such where it stays at skin depth. If you go to www.pubmed.com or google scholar, you can do a search concerning the safety of laser’s for hair reduction and you will see a pattern of conclusions saying something like laser appears to be safe and effective for hair reduction. There is not much in the way of medical literature expressing caution. If doctors were seeing weird things happening as far as skin changes, these patterns would be reported. It’s been greater than 10 years now and I have not seen such. I have secretly worried about laser clients who report that that they have needed greater than 20 laser treatments or that they need to continue to lase an area for three years to keep the hair under control. Then I wonder if repeatedly traumatizing the skin could cause changes in the DNA. Most laser clients seem to need about 8-12 laser sessions for the back area followed by electrolysis if there is remaining hair that bothers them.
The bigger thing you need to worry about concerning cancer prevention is diet, exercise and abstaining from self-inflicted causes such as smoking and sun rays.
Next, you really want to understand that some/many?? men who have had laser hair reduction experienced more hair being stimulated in some areas for various known or mysterious reasons, that have already been discussed here and on other forums.
Come back and let us know how all this pans out for you.
Hair removal laser doesn’t penetrate deep enough to affect anything deep under your skin. Don’t worry about it. It also doesn’t emit any harmful radiation.
