Red spots after waxing

After waxing I have little red spots where the hairfollicle used to be. They stay there forever, but is there a way to get rid of them or avoiding them?

Hello,
Having red/plucked chicken looking legs after waxing is normal for anywhere between a few hours to a few days depending on how sensitive your skin is. Here are a few tips for after waxing:

  • Do not apply any perfumed products

  • No hot baths/showers for 24hours

  • Do not go swimming on steam

  • If you wish to calm/soothe area you can use a tea tree lotion or aloe gel.

That should sort you out. If not you could be to sensitive and might need to think of other methods of hair removal.

Thanks, but these red spots having been staying for months now. I see it on other women (and some men) too, but with them it doesn’t look so obvious. You can see I’ve been epilated, which is not the purpose.

Monique, you may have an inflammation called folliculitis, or irritation of the follicles.

If it’s been this long, you should consider a trip to a dermatologist. It’s possible that you can clear it up with Vitamin A or certain topical creams, but using some of these requires that you stop waxing.

It’s hard to say what it is over the web, so I’d go see a pro.
