On normal leg skin (not talking about post-treatment), we often see redness/darkness around a follicle where thick hairs are present. Even after LHR on lower legs I still have that, though it’s quite lesser than before. Is that just minor skin damage from the trauma an emerging hair causes to the skin above it or just genetic?
Why don’t we see the same thing on men’s faces or people’s pubic regions where the hair are just as thick if not thicker?
After permanent hair removal from a follicle (whether by LHR or electrolysis), should we expect the dark spots to reduce over time? And if so how much time are we looking at- months or years?
Has any electrolysis client had the above experience?
It takes a long while but the open pore closes eventually and you see nothing or just a hint of a pore. How long has it been since your last treatment?
Look carefully zaphairzap. The red color could be remnants of hairs caught. The black color of keratin debris, along with the red color of the bottom of the follicle may result in a purplish red.
I think from good electrolysis, these will resolve.
My bikini line was messed up from years of epilating and waxing. Laser removed a lot of the hair but did not fix the skin. I believe electrolysis will be able to fix it… at least the things I have shown Josefa she said are treatable but I would need to spend more than a few days with her.
I believe the underarms after electrolysis look waaaay better than after Laser.
I hope the electrolysis I get on thighs will solve the problem in the thigh region. For now, I’m quite happy with my lower legs despite the dots (which are surely decreased now). We always desire more than we have already achieved!
Josefa, I’ve done lots of scanning in various types of light. I was thinking that any remnants would have disintegrated by now.
Stoppit, you’re probably right. I’m gonna go the electrolysis route for the bl too.
I agree Stoppit, the electrolysis produces a sealing effect in the pores. Perhaps the healing process facilitates this phenomenon. Watch this recent case.
Hope you dont mind me asking… What was the skin reaction like for the above male? I’m looking to get the same area treated along with the temples… The hair I have is not as thick as that on the male in your pictures either although there is possibly more hair. I will be hopefully getting a clearance around the end of may with an apilus platinum and Laurier ibp so hoping to keep reaction to a minimum! Also, how long did it take you to clear that area?? (each side of the cheek) I know you are exceptionally quick from what I have read but an idea of what to expect would be great!!!
Hopefully I’ll actually get to come to you one day for some treatment… Something I’m considering planning later in the year!
Naturally, the time will depend on several factors.
The number of hairs, the method, your sensibility, the experience of professional, hair removal system used previously and the time since then.
This skin is very, very sensitive, so your electrologist should be careful. Here, the speed is the last value to be taken into account.
I agree, would much rather have less reaction and the process take slightly longer than the other way around! Im going to see mairi hawkes in Scotland who I know is well thought of on here so hopefully everything goes ok!!
Ah in that case, you have nothing to worry about. Mairi is one of those practitioners aware of what they have in their hands. You must know that the skin around the eyes is a very thin skin, so if the density of follicles treated is very high, the result will be quite inflammation for 2 to 3 days. The IBP will minimize significantly the damage on the surface of your skin, but the swelling is inevitable. Towards the end of first day, the swelling will be down a lot, but when you wake up the second day there will be more inflammation, [size:14pt]do not worry[/size]!, this is because of the exudation of small lesions which could not be drained by the immobility of your eyelids at night. As the day go passing, things will going to better.
Mark, my sister had almost her entire forehead treated, plus around/the underside of eyebrows and the glabella. As Josefa has said, there is a lot of swelling after such treatment and her eyes looked weird too from all the swelling around them. All you need is some confidence to get through that early period (or plan to stay at home) and patience.
Thanks for all the information and advice!! 3 weeks and counting tomorrow… I’m now 12 weeks post my last laser session… Regrowth has come through and is still coming but I’ve thus far got away with just bleaching the area once a week and. It has to trim although the hairs are getting longer now!! Fingers crossed!
Oh and I’ve planned to stay home post treatment!! I’m booked in on the wednesday and will be home late wednesday night… Then I’m off work thurs, fri, sat and sun so I’m giving myself 4 full days post treatment… Hopefully by Monday I can get back to work without any sign of treatment. I’m a pretty good healer, had a hour of blend before on the forehead and by the time I got home the redness had gone but I was swollen and bumpy for 24 hours!!
Hey Mark, that’s great. I think you may need to expect scabbing to develop in those 4 days, which may last another week or two. I’m not sure but this is just from our experience contrasting blend and thermolysis. If that’s the case, there will be signs of treatment but it should be minor.
