Recommended Electrologists in Europe and UK

Hi all!

I will be travelling around Europe this year and want to have a marathon session of electrolysis. My schedule is very tight so I cant try many electrologists and decide which one is best.

I have had some work done with the AMAZING Josefa and the results are spectacular!!! I would absolutely love to go to her but unfortunately she is fully booked until next year :frowning:

Could you guys help me by recommending as many electrologists in the Europe/UK area?

Im desperate :frowning:

Beate_r is in Germany.

There is Mairi Hawkes in Scotland… and she may be able to recommend others who are doing similar work.

Excellent recommendations Stoppit, I will be happy to provide details of the treatment to any colleagues who request it. Patience is a client to follow all instructions of her electrologist. It’s a real pleasure to work on her.

Butterflies?

Jossie, I suppose you worked on this client? I don’t know your opinion on this, but I do know mine. There are (rare) clients that will see many different electrologists: going here and there and not necessarily having a real plan. I won’t work with these “butterflies.”

It’s not just my “big fat ego” here. It is all about “who knows where I left off and who has done what and where the hell are we in this situation?” I always tell clients to find the ONE person they like and believe in, and then STAY with that ONE person until the job is finished.

If this were my client, and I had done lots of work on her … and then she flitted around getting this and that … well, she would be “finished” with me. I mean I would never work on her again. Period! (Yeah, and they are always “desperate!” That IS the key word!)

Sometimes these “back and forth” clients start “pitting” one electrologist against the other. Such as: “Well, she was faster than you! Or, it didn’t hurt as much with ‘so and so’.” All of this makes me crazy and I have never seen clients like this finish their job.

My own plastic guy is the same. Yes, he will do a full procedure … but not “share” with another surgeon. Who knows who caused what problem? I have never met a physician that would work with the “butterflies.” And, I won’t either! Jossie you are WAY WAY too kind. No wonder we all love you?

Stopoit&tidyup: Many thanks! Mairi is unfortunately fully booked but I will contact Beate_r.

Josefa: Thank you soo much! You are absulotely fabulous and yes you are very kind! I can not wait to see you again next year!

Michael: You can call me a butterfly if you wish to do so:)

The only reason I asked for as many names is because many are fully booked.

Believe it or not, I took a 9 hour flight to see Josefa in summer. Sometimes, it is just a matter of circumstances! as I said, I would ABSOLUTELY LOVE to go to Josefa this year but she is fully booked until April next year. I have an appointment with her in April next year to treat my body hair. As I am getting engaged this year, I most certainly do not want black fur on my face on my special day. I don’t want to look at the pictures and see hair all over my face! And I dont want to wax/thread/tweeze! So this is my only option I guess!

The rest of my body can wait until April next year.

Thanks for commenting on this:)

Patience, I know your circumstances, and I know that the options are very limited in your country. If Beate has availability, you can not be in better hands. She has very good tools of magnification to see your fine hairs.

Michael you are right when you say that comparisons can confront professionals among them. Every electrologist has his own technique as each person has their own handwriting. Comparing the different letters is absurd. The important thing is that “the text” is permanent.

I am one of those who prefer to start and finish a particular case, however, when you meet a colleague’s work as if it were your own, no matter who take the witness, the end is guaranteed, and with the same TTT.

All we have ever had one of those clients who jump from flower to flower. They will never be satisfied by very quick, effective, and careful you are. So, they never end. Maybe they make us appreciate more the rest.

I am more than happy to see anybody who has been to other electrologists. I have several situations where a client of mine is seeing two of us so they can get appointments. We don’t always have availability for clients that need a lot of work. After all, we are a one person show, trying to defeat a tough and abundant army of enemy hairs, one at a time. My client from Cleveland sees me and another electrologist from the Cleveland area, so he gets double combat action. I am not threatened by the consumer checking out other electrologists. I actually encourage them to do. For facial work, I always take a picture if they have been to someone else so we start at square one.

Yeah, if you are doing “a woman’s facial hair,” I suppose it doesn’t matter, since it’s a “hunt-and-peck” procedure that seems to go on for eternity. Indeed, another electrologist won’t necessarily screw-up the plan. However … well, here’s an example.

A guy came in more than a year ago with upper shoulder/back hair. After a couple hours’ treatments, I gave him the estimate of 30/16/10 (the three clearings), and a final cost and completion date. But this guy was horribly impatient and could barely sit through 20-minutes without cell phone conversations and being “uncomfortable,” and constantly complaining. We finished 8 hours and he disappeared for the last 9 months. (Note: the guy was ALL pressure and wanted this job finished “yesterday.” You DO know the type!)

Last night he called and wanted to resume treatment. He said he had been getting laser, but was not happy with the results. NOW, he wants me to “go back on schedule” and still guarantee the original “finish date.” I cannot give him a “finish date,” because I can’t!

I expect that what was going to take 9 months total is now (maybe) open-ended? I assume the laser was at least somewhat effective and might delay the normal regrowth by a year (maybe more). The guy wants to “hold me” to my original estimate and put a lot of pressure on me. Good luck.

I recommended that he continue with the laser for at least a year … then, give it a year to see what “grows in” and then I would resume treatment. This is the “butterfly” that I don’t want to work with.

For this kind of “butterfly” it would seem appropriate to say all guarantee’s are off, so if you want to continue, just forget the original conversation and expect more time and perhaps some surprises. When clients tell me how long they want this to take and they dictate the schedule of sessions or what probe to use, etc., I belabor the point that I cannot guarantee you will be finished in a certain timeframe.

I fully understand your frustration Michael, the task that was initially straight forward, is now a messy mission. Given his impatient disposition, I believe that you have given the best advise that you could now. I sometimes think that certain personality types are unsuited to having electrolysis. They cannot fully commit to it, and continue to search for a more rapid solution, often to their detriment. Frustration for everyone!!

I can’t “recommend” this individual, but google Eunice McBride Electrolysis (BIAE register).

She’s based in Eltham, SE London (near Woolwich) and has an electrolysis clinic at a hospital, especially working on transgender patients. I don’t know if it’s independent of the hospital or not, but I imagine she can’t be awful seeing as faces are one of the hardest areas to treat carefully. She charges £36/hour, which is quite cheap! I don’t know about her equipment though… Probably Sterex of some variety of a vintage kind. I don’t know how many hours she’ll work on one client in any given session either.

There’s another lady who’s similar in Harrow (as in works on transgender patients at an electrolysis clinic at a hospital too), but she’s more expensive and does 1-1.5 hrs at a time. Her treatment seemed fine from what I remember of my test patch. I think I had fairly giant scabs from the 5-10 hairs she treated around my navel, but they healed okay.
