Reaction from Thermolysis

Dear all,

I had my first thermolysis treatment today after having had 5-6 galvanic treatments some weeks ago. I am wondering what you guys think of my skin reaction, as my skin never looked like this following the galvanic treatments.

The treated area was the chin (chin and down the sides) and upper lip. Only a few hairs on the upper lip were treated, leaving almost no visible signs of treatment.

My chin had a much stronger reaction. Some pictures, taken 4 hrs post-session (the other side of the face looks similar):

The were of course some hair, but not so much that I’d suspect we spent too much time in one area. Previous galvanic treatments were 30 min, but then of course we did not clear the whole thing. Aftercare included tea tree oil as soon as I got home as well as a coating of aloe vera. (I live in Europe and have not been able to find witch hazel yet.)

Although my practicioner seemed surprised at the reaction, I got the impression she didn’t deem it an unusual occurrence.

What do you guys think? Is my reaction normal and will get better during subsequent treatments or should I ask her to bring it down a notch?

It looks like slight overtreatment to me. I wouldn’t use aloe vera. I think it clogs pores. A tiny bit of tea tree oil should be enough.

Don’t worry about Aloe Vera clogging pores, it is mostly water and enzymes. I would say that as long as you do your Tea Tree Oil overnight, and Aloe Vera in the morning, and if desired at any other additional time during the day, you should be just fine in no time.

I would agree, that your practitioner should probably readdress the treatment settings.

Thanks to both of you for your feedback. I’ll talk to my practitioner about the results and ask her if we can change some parameters.

I don’t expect my skin to not react at all, but I’d like to avoid the blisters. Luckily, the tea tree oil really does help battling those; my skin looks far better today.

Yes, Tea Tree Oil is a wonder while you sleep. I wish more people would use it overnight at least the day of their treatments, if not taking our advice to use it the first 3 evening after treatment.
