Ranking The Pain (Thermolysis)...

anyone here get their entire body done?

i have. still cleaning up a bit, but basically almost done.

thought i’d share my thoughts on relative pain sensitivity (without topical cream).

all else equal…

Most Painful:

  1. Eyebrows! What a surprise, I can’t take more than 5 minutes on each eyebrow.

  2. Upper Lip, especially as you get closer to the middle. Am I the only one who tears up when this area gets zapped?

  3. Chin/Neck. WOW!

  4. Fingers & Toes. OW!

Moderately Painful:

  1. Peri-Anal

  2. Scrotum

  3. Legs.

  4. Shaft of penis.

  5. Underarms.

Wake me up when it’s over:

  1. Chest & Abdomen

  2. Arms

  3. Back

  4. Uni-brow

feel free to post yours…

I completely agree about the eyebrows! What is worse for me is that my electrologist stretches the skin to get to the hair so closing my eyes is hard and I don’t want to open them because that would be weird for her…couple that with the pain! It makes my heart quiver lol

How long have you been at it real_sore? Would love to get pretty much everything done myself but the thought of years and $$$$…

Many, many people do well with the eyebrows as far as sensation. Some hairs hurt and some don’t. Technique and equipment used can make an immeasurable difference. It takes 9-12 months for most clients with an average problem. Those with tons of hair will need a few months longer.

Again, time needed depends on the actions from both the electrologist and the client. It should not take years and tons of $$$$$ if it is handeled professionally.

I just want to say that many electrolysis providers are shy about any discussion regarding money. Most will simply ask the consumer “when would you like to get back in”, instead of explaining what would be best for getting to full permanent hair removal in the shortest period of time. They find that too much like saying, “This is the amount of money you need to do this, now do you qualify”.

I must be a pussy, I think the upper arms, back and back of neck hurt like hell. I’m about ready to find a way to chroloform myself or knock myself out. I bet my electrologist would think I was a bit weird though if I hit myself in the back of a head with a baseball bat

I thought if I could stand it on the genitals, I could stand it anywhere. Not so! As Chuck said, the back of the neck was surprisingly painful and the toes are even worse.

It’s been a long time since I’ve had any strays in this area, but I recall the inside of the knees also being incredibly sensitive.
