hi ive been on this website on and off for a while now, trying to understand this world of hair removal.
i’m a 20 year old male from london. i have been considering proffessional hair removal for a long time and came close to trying it but then chickened out last minute due to reading articles about it not working and costing alot of money.
Now that i have read through alot of posts i see it is VITAL you select the correct place/type of hair removal/machine, etc. My problem is i dont have the time/skill/knowledge to research this properly.
I am of mixed background. Half Irish Half Chinese. My skin tone is pale and i have jet black hair.
Would one of you experts help me out, i would pay for some proffessional guidance and expertise on this matter after all paying for somewhere bad, would end up much more costly! Please any responses to this are welcome!!
I would love to come back on here in a years time and post my success story!
Dont pay for guidance lol Just come on here and get it for free!
Ive been to 2 places in London suitable for you. LaserActive in LIverpool st and Laserclear in Cannons Health club at Cannon St.
These are the only 2 places in/around london that have Gentlelase as far as i know. Gentlase is the type of laser you’ll be wanting for your skin/hair combo.
sorry i havnt been able to reply quick i was not at a pc for a while. thanks for the info. why is gentle lase the right one for me?
i think laser would only be suitable for my legs and possibly chest since these hairs are thicker but everywhere else probly have to be electrolysis.
im looking to treat my face, as in cheeks and unibrow! i want a permanant solution for that, completely remove hair, these hairs are still quite thin i try to leave it as much as i can. also want to treat upper legs and bum! just reduce the amount so its not so much. and possibly reduce on the chest, and in the future back ( when it gets noticable, right now its only a few fine hairs but in the future it will be more looking at my dads back lol)
so what do i do, because i have have read even though i find an appropriate place, i need to check its the right machine? and then i have to check the skill of the operator, it seems like a slim chance of it getting it all right!
For your chest and legs, laser would be appropriate and GentleLASE machine would be best for your skin type. Morrissey correctly suggested the places in London with that machine for you.
For your face, you need electrolysis.
Are you in London? You can run a search here to find electrologists that were previous recommended or Morrissey may be able to point you in the right direction.
what place does she practice at? and have you used her before? i would call… but i have no idea what questions i should ask. what should i be asking her, to check she is one of the top electrolysis in london!
hey morrissey, i called Geri up. She seems very nice and helpful. She advised me to search for an electrolysis near me on the British Associate Institute for Electrolysis website. She says the people on there must all be good because they have to be in training for 5 years and pass a test.
Is she right? Should i just go to somebody from there and trust they will be good?
No matter what organization one belongs to, no matter what tests they have passed, and no matter what pretty pieces of paper they may have on the wall, the only way one can tell that someone is good is to either have seen the person who is done and happy, or to get as many sample treatments as one can and note who did the best work with the least skin trauma.
Having said that, memberships and test taking do suggest someone who cares more about the actual knowledge of the practice and might actually know about the improvements in the industry (even if they don’t incorporate them in their practice).
