[color:#993399]My friend recently had some tummy issues and she got three 16 oz bottles of aloe gel dietary supplement. She only used one and said “Hey Bets dont u use aloe on ur face” and gave me the remaining two. Its only ingredients other then aloe is carrageenan(thickening agent, extracted from red seaweed) and Potassium Sorbate (mold inhibitor). I asked at the health food store about using it on ur skin, they said it was fine and YES a lot less expensive then pure aloe bottled for skin, and the added ingredients should not prove harmful but it will only keep for a month in the frig. Which I think I could go through almost this entire bottle in a month.
Has anyone ever done this or heard of this or thought of this? Compared to the aloe for skin, it is only about 5 dollars for 16 oz compared to about 15 for 11 oz. Big difference in price. Perhaps I shall be a guinnea pig??[/color]
DUH now someone tells me!!! Thank you so much!
It is so cool going on compared to the other PURE brands i tried and gave up on!!!
It doesnt leave a shine and almost feels like I could apply a powder consealer over it without a mess after about ten minutes!
And these two bottles were free but at the health store they sell for 4.79! What a bargain!
I think anyone who uses the food grade needs to specify that in replying to a post. I knew I wanted pure but there is a difference in so many ways to pure that you purchase FOR SKIN and food grade for consumption.

I was inspecting in my mirror today and am amazed at the peach fuzz on my cheeks and the course grey hairs left after a clearance on monday. I am trying very hard to not shave between treatments, and am really seeing a huge difference in amount and color and courseness of my hairs. I LOVE IT!!!Normally two days after treatment i would have a lot of prickle from hairs that were white and she just didnt have time to get to, those are getting less and i can rub my cheeks and neck and it feels so much softer.
Although i am still dealin with non stop redness on my neck, all the way across at the crease of my neck. I went to the doc to rule out infection and she says it is just irritation due to the electro and it does not appear to by scar making and it is not some infection i forget the name of the follicles. Just that My skin is sensitive and maybe I should consider two weeks between treatments, or work on my tummy or chest one week and face the next. I feel overzealous tho and have gotten to where I am not concerned about my tummy or chest and just want to do work on my face and see and feel progress. But the redness seems to almost clear up on day 5 and then its the weekend and i have to see all the hairs growing in and then its electro day again!
I am close to if not over fifty hours, and only 4 months into the process of removing my neck chin and face hair! I am almost certain this last 6 weeks has been new growth, and it was much less thick then when i started, At this rate I figure by 2010 i should be down to one treatment a month and over one hundred hours! This sound about right? I am just thinking out loud now.
It’s interesting to me to read your post about the redness lasting five days on your neck. I use a different epilator and I never hear feedback from my clients that the redness lasts five days, but rather, it is gone within a few hours. You have put a lot of hours into this so far. I’m trying to visualize how much hair you had. Is the probe in the follicle for more than a second each time?
How much hair i had…ALOT!!! I dont think its for much more then a second, I dont really know and I dont really pay attention. But Dee, I am a blotchy person too. My chest is always blotchy as well and I dont do work there. Ill tell you what, this aloe i think is going to make a difference. It is less red this morning, which in a way is typical, less red all around when i wake up. And it is not like all the area treated is red, its just that crease on my neck or right under my jaw line. My electrologist said she has never seen it really before, but I am the hairiest person whose FACE she has worked on. That is why she sent me to the doc. One reason she had was perhaps some of those hairs there grow in a cow lick and swirl all over, and that she has a hard time getting the right angle. This last visit she moved back and forth and back and forth and had me turn my neck over and over. It was not very relaxing or fun and took more time, but perhaps was the problem. This week seems to be a little better.
I do not know how to explain my hair to you as my problem to me seems worse then anyone elses in the world, LOL, but when i first started going i would not shave and area of about two square inches and it would take her about two hours to clear it. VERY course very dark and as thick as my dads beard was at 35. The one main difference i see between the beard I HAD and most mens, is mens tend to grow up their cheek more and mine grew down my neck.
Ill keep you posted. Also keep in mind that this area i refer to was always full of ingrowns and razor burn. So its not anything really new to me. It doesnt hurt to touch and its not raised.
Okay, thanks - that detail helps. My redheads take longer to go back to normal than other skin types. I am very happy for you and kind of have an idea of what you started out with initially. Sigh… But! you are headed upward and you won’t be sorry you did electrolysis in the end.
yes a red head, not like a pimple but a red spot! And I think from reading other posts that four to 6 days seem like a LONG time too! BUT as i said its not all over just the very tender neck area. And I am not that concerned!
You are an electrologist and have had or are having treatment as well? On what area?
I love this site BTW and am thankful for help and support.
this is less then twenty four hours after about a two hour treatment. If you notice the clack spots, they are hairs that are either dead or shedding and under the skin. The red spots well they are either treated follicles or ingrowns. Its a mess like this for a few days. Ill get a pic each day after my next treatment.
i dont know if this link will work, but this is me before treatment. You can even see, although my chin is pointed down, that there is spots on my neck a little. And I must have JUST shaved because there is no 5 oclock shadow.
Liquid Aloe the type meant for ingestion is good soaked on cotton or a cloth and applied to the skin I,m not sure if it has a higher PH than the gel for topical use though.
Thank you James =) I was shocked I guess I could take it off huh!
I am liking this liguid digestable aloe, i think it will make the next few years of electro much more comfortable for me, and I am keeping my fingers crossed as time goes on and my treatment time gets less the redness goes down.
Is that just not at all normal? Sometimes I find on here that ppl saying this or that can uplift me and other times it is discouraging. Just as life is. I am really okay with the redness right now, but really dont want it forever, but would take it over my hairy face any day!
