Questions about IPL vs laser

One of the hair removal places in my area is Hair Today Gone Tomorrow, they use the IPL method. Has anyone here had experience with them? I have the light skin/dark body hair combo that sounds like it responds best to treatment, so I’m wondering if it would work for me for permanent removal or if I should just look at laser treatments?

No one can give a positive answer. If you are talking about you face, I am not a proponent of using IPL or laser on the face or neck. A good part of my business as a practicing electrologist is dealing with lased faces where hair reduction was a total failure, a partial failure or resulted in induced laser hair stimulation. I have even witnessed a case where the chin was treated and long dark hairs started gowing on the neck weeks afterwards. She actually had her IPL treatments at Hair Today and Gone Tomorrow ( I like that name!). I’m sure there is satisfaction for some? many? when they lase their faces, but why take the chance if you can hook up with a professional electrologist. There is a lot a meaning behind the word professional, but that’s a whole other story.

You just have to do what you think is right for you and hope it goes where you want it to take you when it comes to laser or IPL for certain body and facial areas. One of my trans women clients had IPL in the UK and had fantastic results on her arms, legs and chest.

With electrolysis, it is assured permanent hair removal if several factors are all clicking together to correspond with those pesky hair growth cycles. It works well for all hair colors, all hair structures and all skin colors. It is the gold standard by which all other methods are judged,so keep that in mind if you are wanting hair removed from your neck or face. Thosee electrologists that have the best computerized epilators that can perform the faster forms of electrolysis, wearing good vision aids can move along at speeds that will please you well. This isn’t grandma’s slow electrolysis scene anymore. Electrolysis has jumped into a whole new different realm that makes hair removal more comfortable, with less skin reaction while being very deadly to the bottom of the follicle where all the action takes place. Consider electrolysis for your face.

Real lasers are better than IPL’s as I have come to understand.

Did I over answer your question?

Actually I was talking about the back, but from the research I have done, it sounds like laser is the way to go over IPL. I found a place near me that uses the aesthera laser, which I am researching now.

And now doing a little research, it sounds like the aesthera isn’t a very good option, does anyone have any opinions on this?

I probs sound very stupid but what is IPL?? And is electrolysis dangerous for your face or is it ok?? I need a solution!! I’m white, but an asian friend of mine told me she has friends and electrolysis didnt work on them so i shud just leave my hair…

There’s no way i’m leaving my hair as it is, but is there a guaranteed treatment that will get rid of it?

IPL is Intense pulsed light. IPL is a newer treatment than laser. IPL is similar to a laser, but it has some noticeable differences.

Did you register just to promote your business in New Jersey? After reading your website, I’m confused. Do you use IPL only or an actual laser, in addition to an IPL for hair reduction purposes? What is the name of the IPL you use? If you do actual laser hair reduction, what is the name of the laser you use at your center? Consumers on hairtell are savvy enough to want to know the name of the laser and IPL brands because they are aware that there are big differences.

Don’t go with Aesthera. No good reviews on it.

Please read the FAQs on this forum. Then run a search for your city and see what’s been recommended in the past.

Also, MOST IMPORTANTLY, is your hair coarse? Don’t believe the hype. Laser really only works on hair that’s COARSE and DENSE. Just dark is not enough.

COCO, read the FAQS on this forum. Both electrolysis and laser work, but it takes research to find someone who knows what they’re doing. Also, laser only works on certain type of hair.
