I’ve been getting electrolysis treatments for about 5 months now (once a week) for my entire face. I have very fine hair, however, they are visible in the sunlight and are quite bothersome. (forehead, cheeks, upper lip, lower lip, nose, etc… we’re talking fine hair everywhere.)
My electrologist seems really good, actually, but she works on my entire face for each visit for 45 minutes, but we obviously can’t get every single hair our during that time. Is this okay? or do you think that I should ask her if we can work on one part of my face at a time?
Also, I’ve read that I should get the hair treated as soon as I see new ones. How soon is “as soon as possible?” As I’ve mentioned, I get my hair treated once a week, and so some hairs grow out by the time the week is over. At least, that’s how it appears to me.
If she is working all over your face and you only give her 45 minutes per week, then she is most likely trying to get the longer more noticable hairs first. Facial areas have lots of follicles and sounds like you have hair in every follicle.
You can concentrate on one side at a time until you/she feels like it is under control and then go to the other side or you can give her more time each week. Is she doing flash or microflash thermolysis for all this hair?
We talk about full first clearance here daily. That’s a worthy goal to aim for if at all possible. One must have good vision equipment and a worthy light source to see hair like you have. A skilled flash or microflash electrologist can speed things along quite nicely for a job like yours. After you get a nice first full clearance, you then need to see the electrologist every 2-3 weeks for awhile depending on the amount of hair one has, to keep the area maintained when those new hairs arrive. Number of sessions diminish and sessions are shorter when the end comes. You will know when you are almost there.
Small, vellus hair on a woman’s face is not unattractive, so don’t go overboard thinking you want all the hair removed. Okay?
I too have fine blonde bothersome hairs and a few dark ones all over my face, I just wondered what magnification would be appropriate to see the follicle entrance clearly? I’m currently having treatments under a magnification of x7, I can’t feel the darker hairs being removed, but I can the blonde ones.
Often those blond hairs are the vellus or accelerated vellus hairs. They may be coming out with a balled-up root sheath, therefore, you may feel some traction when they are removed. If the dark hairs are being properly treated, then there should be enough treatment energy for the lighter (blond) hairs to be treated.
The magnification needed will vary, depending upon the practitioner.
I agree with Dee that completely denuded skin is not attractive. A face without any hair looks waxy - short vellus hair gives the face a soft appearance.
