Question reg. vellus facial hair

Hi there,

I have been browsing hair tell for some while now, but never posted.
I really love this web-page, it has informed me a lot…
I do have a couple questions tough.
Starting in Aug. 06 I had flash thermolisys done to my upper lip . I have some improvement , all my dark hair has gone, but there is still a lot of dark vellus hair left.
Wich my electrolysis Lady doesnt want to touch.
Does it take a lot of current to destroy those? And is it harder to treat them bec. of their small pores? (making insertions difficult)
Do you know anyone in OC or LA erea? I know all the board adresses for certif. electolysists, but I rather go to someone who is aproved by you guys.

Thanks

The problem is being able to see the tiny follicles and getting a good insertion. The currents are so minimal, that when properly done, one really feels little of anything if one is not dehydrated and on caffeine.

Of course, if one only has a 3 diopter circle lamp, one can’t see well enough to do those hairs.

In fairness, some clients want to remove hairs that no one sees but them when they are shining their halogen lamp on their faces and staring in their 10x’s magnification mirror. Of course, the point here is the 10x’s magnification mirrors have more sight than a 3 diopter circle lamp!

We have a few listings and consumer notes from people in your area, so you should be easily able to use the search feature to find someone good in your area.

It would not be a problem to remove even the tinest hairs from your upper lip. It does not take a lot of current to permanently affect these hairs. Many people have these types of hairs in the middle section , under the nose area, of their upper lip, especially. The sensation may be tolerable, but if it is not, you can get some oragel OTC (20% bezocaine) and apply it your self to the mucous membrane right before treatement. Or you can talk to to your physician and get some EMLA to apply topically an hour before.

Those tiny, black hairs are not any harder to treat than larger hairs. The secret to doing this correctly is to actually be able to see these hairs. You need to find an electrologist that has quality surgical loops like dentists and surgeons wear and who has a good light source. I use halogen, personally. I frequently need to use the smallest probe available for me, which is a size 2 gold ballet probe. The energy level needs to be decreased for a small probe and that is why you will read posts about the higher end computerized epilators being so helpful in cases like yours. The energy levls can be pinpointed with great accuracy to deliver just the right amount of current for your hair type.

Making insertions on small hairs are difficult for the electrologist that has not invested in eyewear that can deliver the scope of vision necessary to see these small hairs. Go on the hunt for someone who has the best equipment available. Good equipment is a real perk for an already skilled electrologist.

Lagirl, may have some practitioner suggestions for you, Daisy. Your situation is not impossible. Someone out there can give you relief under the proper circumstances. It sounds like your lady was effective, but can’t take it to the next level. Be grateful for what she was able to do for you up to now.

Dee

if you run a search for ‘los angeles’ or ‘california’ etc, you’ll find an entire thread dedicated to discussing electrologists in LA. Mine treats any hair you want gone.

Thanks very much for your replies.
