I had two excellent cataract surgeries but now face a “risky” surgery to my (right eye) retina. I have not been able to work for the last 6-weeks. So, the hairy people are waiting in the wings. (I hope they don’t tweeze or wax!)
At the moment I have a little fight with the retina clinic and I’m experiencing what all of YOU clients experience: lack of real information from the physicians! (Luckily there is the internet.) The physician-in-charge wants to do the surgery, but I want another doctor at the same clinic (a specialist in my problem) to do it! I will win!
And maybe that’s what I’d like to tell all you clients? DO NOT worry about offending your electrologist! ASK ALL THE QUESTIONS you want answered! Any good electrologist will gladly answer all your questions, and if they don’t know, they will say so … and find the answer.
For some reason, once we see that “white coat” we become submissive. DON’T DO IT! It’s your damn body, your skin … take control of your situation and get the job done properly. Don’t be a VICTIM of any medical or beauty procedure! Be skeptical and question everything! (But don’t be a “pain in the butt” either.) You can do it!
Oh, by the way, I purposely never wear the obligatory “white lab coat.” I do this very much on purpose. I do not want to put up a “false front” for the client or give them any subtle message of “don’t ask me anything … I’m the ‘great’ professional.” Screw that!
I am sure everyone here is happy know that your cataract surgeries were
successful.
I agree, it is best to insist that the most experienced surgeon perform the
operation on your retina.
