Question about shaving prior to electrolysis

Hi there, just joined the board recently and thinking about getting electrolysis to my chin and upper lip.

I see it’s suggested NOT to wax or tweeze prior to treatments (and I’ve been tweezing/ waxing for at least 18 yrs) and instead to shave or clip. Okay, clipping I have no problem with. What concerns me is shaving. I have NEVER shaved my facial hair in my entire life. I know how the hair on my legs look (all stubbly) and I don’t want my face to look like that too!

So ladies that have shaved their face: how does it look? Is it extremely noticeable? Do you guys use regular razors or electric razors? I’m very nervous about this. I hate my facial hair enough as it is now and to add to it that it will now look stubbly makes me feel very self-conscious.

Any words of wisdom would be helpful! Thanks in advance!

As long as you don’t have very dark hair on super white skin, you have nothing to notice unless you don’t shave it often enough. For most people, a shave once every 2 or 3 days is good enough. For some once a week is good.

Please give your electrologist 2 to 3 days growth after the last time you shave or clip so she (or he) can have something to grasp, thus enabling removal of the treated hairs.

Thanks I will do that. I do have pale white skin (well at least in the winter now) and the hairs are pretty dark on my chin. I’ll see how things go and see if clipping or shaving will be best in between sessions after I get started.
