Question about next treatment time on underarms

Hey everyone, I actually have a question of my own now

Long story short, when I started doing IPL on my abdomen, after 6 weeks it definitely was time for another treatment, as in the hair was back. I switched to GentleLASE and did 1 session on my underarms, but the hair seemed to take forever to grow back, like more than 8 or 9 weeks. I then did another session with Apogee Elite.

I wanted to do another session and just thought I’d check my calendar to see if I’m getting close. Turns out it’s now been 11 weeks since my last session. Here’s the thing though, the hair on my underarms looks nothing like when I started. Before I started, it was long (like average guys length) coarse, dense etc. I used to use hair clippers to cut it down to maybe under 1cm in length from whatever it was before (maybe 2?). The thing is, right now the hair is finder, thinner as in not as dense, and it’s much shorter, like under 1cm like when I used to cut it.

The reason for my post though is that I’m trying to figure out if I should go for another treatment or not. The results are great so far, but it’s only been 2 sessions so that’s what has me concerned since they seem a little too good, leading me to believe that the hair hasn’t fully grown back in yet. I’d say it started to grow back from the hair free shedding period around week 8, as I was on vacation then and I remember not even having to shave it since it still was smooth. So this is basically 3 weeks worth of growth. I can post photos if it helps but I don’t have any before shots! Me of all people

Just wanted to see if it’s okay to go again or if maybe underarms take longer. I find I have similar results with forearms, not as extreme though, but it seems like using an alex versus IPL the hair free period is way way way longer. Thanks!

You’re basically getting to that point after a couple treatments where you have killed a lot of the hair. What you’re seeing is normal. As we always say, 8-12 weeks is an approximate time frame. Actual time frame depends on each person.

I would probably get another treatment at around 12 weeks or so if there is enough hair there. It will probably not become very coarse anymore. That’s the point if laser

It’s not that the hairfree period is longer, but it’s that when hair is actually killed, it takes around 12 weeks to need another treatment. With IPL and using lasers at low settings, hair can be “back” early because it was never killed, but just stunned.

Perfect thanks that makes sense. IPL definitely isn’t as good, I had good results but I do think some of the hair is coming back. It got rid of a lot of the dark coarse hair which was good but on my stomach on the sides it seems like hair is returning a little. Not the end of the world, was at my friends place so did 4 treatments and only had to pay for 2 of them which was discounted anyway but I’ve definitely lost faith in IPL for hair removal. So far so good with alex though!

After my second leg treatment with an alex, I was still totally hair-free at 8 weeks (aside from the patches that he missed completey, grrr). It’s now the 10 week mark and I have only a few random light hairs that are so tiny I can’t see them in most light. I have a feeling it will be a month before I see enough hair for another treatment.

So yeah, when a good laser is on good settings, you have amazing results within a few treatments. I don’t think it’s “too good to be true” especially since armpits are considered the best place on the body for this.

Congrats on your awesome results! I’m jealous, and I’m totally getting my pits done next.

Thanks!!! It goes back to my post in the thread replying to that Murach guy about people with experience. I’m not trans or anything, just normal guy but doing underarms why? Because why not haha, it’s only $60 a session and I hate hair! Plus it gives me more experience in treating different areas haha.
