I was just wondering if people who had to shave frequently need more treatments than your average person? Like people who have to shave twice a day. Since the hair is constantly growing I’d imagine having to go in a few times a week for electrolysis. Or am I wrong?
If you have to shave twice a day, you may have a lot of active hair, thus, getting a first, full clearance with electrolysis is the desired goal. Depending on the skill and equipment of the electrologist, you could be cleared in the first long session or you may have to go weekly until you obtain a first full clearance. Therafter, visiting the electrologist every 3? 4? 6? weeks to keep you clear is a good plan. This goes on for about 9 months and then things should really slow down to the point where you are going in every six weeks for shorter cleanup treatments. What area(s) are you shaving? Picture?
Going more than once a week is too harsh on your skin.
Assuming that you are talking about facial hair…
I have always been amazed at the speed in which facial hair grows - compared to other areas of the body. I don’t believe that it necessarily means there is MORE hair. Vellus and accelerated vellus hairs just don’t seem to grow as fast as terminal hair. Terminal hair seems to (literally) grow in overnight.
I believe their are individual differences, too. One person is fine with shaving once a day, and another is so bothered by the hair that shaving twice a day is necessary. While SOME of that can be concern with others seeing the hair - SOME of that is also the faster speed in which the facial hair grows.
It’s not just the face, either. Many women can shave their underarms, legs, etc…a couple of times a week - yet I have had clients who spend 20 minutes every day shaving those areas (before seeking electrolysis).
The physiology and metabolism of the individuals we see will span the lengths and depths of what the human body provides… The real truth about hair growth, IMHO, is a great mystery. We know what we observe, we consider what we are taught, and we do our best to get rid of the hair for the client.
Regarding “how often” once a week per area is appropriate - more than that could be too much.
I was just curious cause hair growth is sooo different from person to person. I wanted to make a consultation for electrolysis a couple of months ago but some health problems came up and I had a million doctor appointments. Now I’ll be able to schedule an appointment. Some areas on my body grow faster than others. Especially in the areas where laser isn’t working too well like my face, butt, and lower back. There isn’t a ton of hair on my face anymore so hopefully I’d be able to clear that area quick.
