If I stopped tweezing for one day I’d have a noticeable amount of hair, like people would do a double take to see a woman with that much hair on her face, if I stopped tweezing for 6 weeks, I hate to think of what it would look like. I can’t imagine dealing with the embarrassment, and I can’t stay in my home for 6 weeks like a hermit. How on earth does any woman cope with the shame of going around with a beard for 6 weeks in order to get the laser treatment done properly? I just can’t imagine it.
Edited to add: But I hate the amount of hair I have to tweeze out every morning to avoid the same embarrassment and I want to get rid of this hair.
Have you considered getting electrolysis?? The hair can be cleared, meaning treated and lifted out. The hair does not have to be long in order fot the electrologist to see it. You have to stop tweezing when you begin electrolysis (same for laser) but you go in weekly as those tweeze hairs come through for the next 3 months or so, and noone will ever see hair on your face. You can clip or shave in between treatments.
If you get lased, you can [color:#FF0000]shave [/color] or clip as well.
Both laser and electrolysis is dependent on quality equipment and technician expertise, so you need to go on the hunt or get some recommendations.
Electrolysis works to permanently remove all the hair regardless of skin color, hair color or hair structure on males and females.
I think Dee meant to say shave rather than tweeze. No tweezing, whatsoever. It’s a waste of time and money if you continue to tweeze with either method.
Oh,yes I did! Yes, it is shave! I will modify that post. Thanks, for the backup, Choice.
You’re allowed to shave the hair. Is there a reason why you’re not doing that instead?
Thank you all for answering my question.
If I stopped tweezing and just shaved the hair on my chin, I’d get a very dark patch of skin like a 5 o’clock shadow in a couple of days. My skin is fair and it’s transparent. I could be wrong, but it seems like it’s an unusual situation of light, transparent skin and too much very dark course hair (I have heard that this is ideal for the laser to work on), but it would be very noticeable if I just shaved. I don’t think make up would cover the dark hair under the skin. If was thinking about dressing like I’m from the Middle East for six weeks and wear a veil over my face.
I guess I just hate the idea of looking like I have a man’s shaved chin for 6 weeks. But I guess that’s the only way I could do it.
My sister and I and our mom have PCOS. My mom had some electrolysis done like 35 years ago, but it didn’t seem to do much for her. I just thought that laser sounded so ideal. But this business of letting all the hair grow in is hard to deal with. I understand why it’s necessary and that not doing letting it grow for six weeks would mean a waste the laser treatment, basically.
Anyway, thank you all again for answering my question and for the other advice. I will keep reading about the kind of laser that works best and so forth. There are a few places here (near Sacramento, CA) that do LHR so I have to see which one seems to be the best and most reasonable, etc.
One more question if you don’t mind. I also have hyper-pigmented spots on my neck where I have pulled some of the hairs out. Is it common that a clinic that does hair removal can also lighten the pigmented skin with the laser, or is that a totally different procedure that should be done by a doctor only?
Good luck with laser for your face. Be sure to start looking for an electrologist, because you will still need electrolysis as well. There are many great electrologists to choose from since you are located in California.
When your mother had electrolysis thirty five years ago and you say it didn’t do much for her, what were the specifics? Electrolysis only works 100% when certain behaviors are matched with proper electrolysis.
Start asking around in regard to good electrologists in your area and take notes, because I’m seriously saying that you will need more help for your face after you have completed a year or so of laser. Hopefully, you are working on the PCOS as well.
