Purpura, hyperpigmentation or scab? What's wrong?!

So i had my first laser treatment last Thursday… and i left there with red blotches all over my belly. (I’m about a 4 skin type.) Then it got worse, so i went back in later that day. The nurse said it was “normal” but to let her know if it blistered. It NEVER did, but then it turned scabby and purpley and hasn’t healed at all. It’s not raised off the skin and doesn’t hurt. It’s been 5 days. I went back in yesterday because I was really worried and 3 nurses AND the doctor on staff said they have never seen anything like this before… That is NOT reassuring. and this is a place i researched very well and has a great reputation.

They gave me some creams and said they thought it was some sort of hyperpigmentation and that it would go away in weeks, maybe months… but they were “pretty sure” it wasn’t permanent. WHAT?!

Well, I’ve been doing some reseach on my own and i think it might be purpura or maybe just some bad scabbing? PLEASE help. Will this ever go away? And how long do you think it will take? I’m really worried. Here’s a pic:

Thanks in advance…

i should also mention they used a LightSheer and gave me Complex CU3 cream and 1st stage recovery cream after seeing the outcome.

I have had LightSheer on my face, and I ended up with one dot on my chin that looked similar (but only one and not as dark and only noticeable to me looking in the mirror.) Mine faded after many months and I never had it happen again. However, my treatment was more severe (dark, dense 80 lye unit hairs in a small area and agonizingly painful) and I had no scabbing.

The hair does not look very dark and appears to be fine, and it is a small area. I would have a consultation with an electrologist and see what they tell you. I bet a skilled electrologist could make quick work of that hair (once you have the issue with those marks resolved and you get the go-ahead to proceed.)

It looks like pigmentation after sun exposure. It should go away, but may take a few weeks to a few months.

How did you find this clinic? How did you judge whether they’re knowledgeable. In your other post you said that they didn’t warn you about sun exposure, which worries me.

I have a question about these scabs myself…
i went for my first laser hair removal treatment for the first time yesterday, and today I looked in the mirror and I have many dark scabs on my cheek and some on my neck and the temples of my forehead. When I touch them, it just feels like dry skin. i am really hoping that these scabs are temporary and will go away soon. what would you recommend I use, to speed up the healing process. I had to go to school today, and I covered the scabs with concealer and it worked quite well in hiding them, but i would much rather not have these ugly dark scabs along the side of my face. PLEASE HELP!!!

Purpura goes away with large doses of Vitamin E and A spread out throughout the day. One would want 1200 IU’s of E and 100,000 IU’s of A

A picture would be helpful.

If would be good if you could contact your laser specialist so they could see this reaction and offer you advice.

It sounds like you may have a superficial burn.
