I take 40mg of Prozac daily and I just noticed that it was listed as a photosensitive drug. Is it still safe to have LHR done while on Prozac? It was suggested by Romeo to not take the medication the day of the procedure. Does anyone know anything more about this?
Why not just follow Romeo’s advice? He is ACTUALLY a laser tech. Pretty much the only person that responds to laser questions on this board is LAgirl who is just someone who had LHR, not a tech nor a doctor. Romeo would be the one to listen to as he does LHR for a living and has tons of daily experience. Can you survive a day without your prozac ? Then just dont take your meds that day.
Check with your prescribing physician. Prozac is a very long-lasting drug. One day’s discontinuation may be ineffective.
If a drug is photosensitive enough to impact LHR, stopping for 1 day won’t be enough. I would talk to your clinic and your doctor. If Chris thinks it’s ok, he might have previous experience with this specific drug.
p.s. Danika, unfortunately for the industry, I know quite a bit more than many laser techs treating people who come seeking advice on this forum. I’ve been studying the industry for 10 years now, and have gotten great results from both laser and electrolysis due to this (something I don’t believe you can say yet, but hopefully you’ll learn enough to stick around and help people here. I don’t disperse medical advice here - and neither should most laser techs as the majority don’t have any medical degrees and just took some hours of training with whatever company sold them the machine).
