Prowave 770, any knowledge on this machine?

Went into LaserCosmetica for my first treatment today but I didn’t go through with the treatment because initially Jenae said they had an alexandrite for my skin type but told me the machine they had at this facility was an IPL prowave 770. Reading enough on this forum people are saying stay away from IPL’s. Ryan the owner came out to explain that this machine was specific for my skin type but I told him I wanted to do more research. He said they have an alexandrite at another location but it is kinda far. If the prowave is good I will just stay in this center. Very nice and professional young man, even gave me a print out to read about the machine.

I am half Hispanic and half Caucasian female with very dark hair (black). I tan very easy, rarely burn, and have anywhere between a fair skin type in the winter to a slight tan in the summer, without much exposure to the sun. Is this machine going to work for me?

Run a search here. It’s been discussed before.

You don’t mention anything about area you’re treating or how coarse the hair is. What is the exact skin type according to the Fitzpatrick chart? “Fair” is relative.

Whether even a good machine works depends on expertise of the operator and settings it sets. In general, everything else being equal, a true laser will produce faster better results.

The Prowave 770 is an IPL that can be tweaked to act as an Alexandrite , as long as the settings are properly administered.
The equipment is not bad and many centers in New York use it but if you desperately want to try an Alexandrite laser or an ND YAG laser so that you can be treated during the summer as well as the winter time, then you should try Litetouch Laser or Advance Dermalaser or Manhattan Laser. They are all running specials and are not " up and Coming ". They are all conveniently located. Advance Dermalaser has been in this business for the longest time.

lagirl- where can I find the fitzpatrick chart? Searched but can’t seem to find it.

It’s also in the Laser FAQs at the link below. You should read the entire FAQs anyway.
