Pros/Cons with different Alexandrite lasers

I am tossing up between 2 clinics for laser hair removal.

One uses the Candela Gentlelase and the other Polylase. Both are Alexandrite.

If both are Alex lasers should it matter which clinic I go with? The hair I want to treat is black with light skin - type II-III

Polylase is not very common. It is both an alex and a Yag in one machine, similar to GentleMAX and Apogee Elite. I just looked it up and it seems to have a good range of pulse width of 1-100ms. However, I can’t seem to find the spot size very easily. It seems like it is 15mm, but not sure. http://www.ddctech.com/POLYLASEProduct.htm

GentleLASE has an 18mm spot size, which is better than a 15mm max.

The way you determine which clinic is best is by going in for a free consultation and asking what settings they will use. Having a good machine is one part of the deal. Knowing how to set correct aggressive settings is another. Get a test spot if you can. And post the settings here, so we can help.

Generally, we don’t recommend using anything under 14J on 18mm spot size and 20J on 15mm because it would be too weak. But your skin needs to be able to handle it. If your skin type is accurate, this shouldn’t be a problem, but they need to be willing to be aggressive and test your skin.
