Probe help needed!

To all the experts here:

I just bought an instantron elite machine and I’d like your advice on what probes to buy, and where to buy them from. I’m on the tightest budget you can imagine (which is why I can’t get this done professionally anymore), so if I could get a single probe that works for multiple areas and modalities, that would be ideal.

I will be working on my arms initially, so what size will I need? What type of metal should it be? Where can I find a good deal on it?

Also, what’s the difference between the “instantron needle cord (short or long)” offered by texas electrolysis supply for $33 and the “instantron electrode cord (black)” offered by the same company for $17? They use the same photo for both products.

Ballet Gold Probes are the most comfortable. I would not skimp on that point.

The short probe/needle holder is liked best by ladies, and men like the long one better. The grip works best based on the size of your hands. The short one fits better for working in tight areas.

So wait, aside from the probe holder itself, what’s the difference between the cords I mentioned? They have a “needle cord” and an “electrode cord” (both are black and attach to an identical probe holder in the photo). The only difference is the price and the name. I will buy the less expensive one if they are the same thing (like an error in the catalog or something). Do you know what’s up with that? I’m terrified of spending money on the wrong things.

Will the ballet gold probes fit in the instantron? They sound awfully fancy. Where will I buy them, and what size needle do I get (with an Apilus they are always using different-sized needles on me depending on the follicle sizes and I seem to recall a “2” mentioned in the probe size on my arm or something like that, I forget).

The needlecord really is the probeholder (or needleholder); since the actual needleholder that you put the needle into and hold in your hand is permanently attached to the cord that runs from it to the machine, it may be called a “needlecord”.

The red cord has two banana ends, one that goes into the metal ground you hold, and the other into the red socket on the front of the machine. If you have options for length of the red cord, I’d opt for the longer one.

I use the Ballet one piece needles as James mentioned, and they are the best. I started out with inexpensive two piece needles though. It might be a good idea to order some inexpensive needles to figure out what size you need (TES sells “Precision” two piece needles in a given size in blister packs of 10 that are inexpensive.) Once you figure out what size needles you need, you can buy more expensive needles

Oh, that’s an interesting idea with the needle idea, Vickie, thanks!

I think I’m not wording my question correctly regarding the cord though. I’m so sorry for being confusing and appreciate the responses. Let me try again:

I already have a red cord. I am now buying the black cord only (probe holder cord). There are three of these available. One of them is long, one is short, and the third is identical to the first one, only half-price.

I am trying to figure out the difference between the first $33 black cord, and the third $17 black cord. Both are probe holders with identical lengths (at least in the photo, because I can’t find a written description). I wish I had a way to link to them. So yeah, I totally know all about the first two options (long or short black cords with probe holders). It’s the third option that confuses me.

The $17 one is probably an “electrode cord” that is the same as the red cord, only black and designed to be plugged into items like metal rollers for post treatment and skin rejuvenation. It is only a different color to keep one from plugging the ground/indifferent pole into it.

Ooookay, it does say electrode cord and that makes sense that it’s for post treatment. But the photo was clearly of a probe holder so that’s why I was confused. Sorry about that, but without the descriptions of the products, I was ordering based on the photos.

What would I ever do without this place? :stuck_out_tongue:

Thank you both!
