prob needle length

Hi everyone,

I have bought an Apilus Senior II which came with some ballet needles but when I put them in the prob, the needle just about sticks out of the white tip of the prob and the needle measures 2cm.

I have the below prob:

If someone could advise which needles I need that would be great.

if the needle is 2 centimeters in lenght, i’s the needle that is the problem. Where did you find a 2 cm long needle?

Standard f shank probes are less than a cm in length

The ballet .002 needles came with the Apilus, when I put the needle in the prob and screw the white cap back on, the needle just about sticks out of the white cap, which is why I assumed the needle length is too short.

Hiya,
It sounds like your chuck needs tightening, Ballet needles do fit the Apilus Senior 2.
Just take an old set of tweezers and use them to squeeze the ‘arms’ of the chuck together very slightly. You may need to fiddle a bit until you get it just right. I use a single razor blade to prise them apart when they are too tight. Hope that’s helpful.

You must be mistaken on the length I’m thinking. My SM-500 uses the same needle cord, I’ll work up a couple photo’s for scale. Cherrytree may be on to the problem.

EDIT: ok, you arent incorrect on length, I guess I am a poor judge of distance.Photos on their way, but I am thinking Cherrytree has the right idea, either something is IN the probe holder and blocking the probe from being inserted or the tines are too tight. I generally leave the needle cap on and then use my tweeezers to get it inserted the right length, rather than try to slip the needle cap over the needle and potentially bending it.

The needle does fit but when I put the white cap back on after I have put the needle in, the needle just about comes through the white cap which to me indicates the needle is not long enough.

Here’s two pictures showing a properly inserted probe. I usually leave a tiny bit of the tapered shank sticking out, not much more than a mm, but this is personal preference. The photos are still syncing, so it may take a minute or two before they are visible. They dont need to be inserted as far in as they can go you wont have enough of the probe sticking out to work with.

Oh, and one last thing, the F2 probes arent really all tht useful, except on the finest of hairs. As large a probe as you are able to insert in the follicle will be much better, and give more even heat distribution from thermolysis. The f2’s also bend like tissue paper if you are not careful

Thank you very much for your help, I was inserting the needle as far as it can go which then did not stick out of the probe.

I get what you mean about squeeze the ‘arms’ of the chuck together very slightly so it holds the needle in place.

Thanks again for your help.

The needle will just fall down into the chuck if the chuck is a little loose zednaz.
Check that they have sent you the correct needle-shank size though, I suppose they could have packed the wrong one. They come in ‘F’ and ‘K’. ‘F’ is the Apilus (and most commonly used machines) size. Ballet is labelled ‘F’ or ‘K’ in front f the needle size on the pack.

Do I have the correct needle-shank size?

If not could you tell me which ones I need to get.

thanks

it fits, it’s right! We could tell you more fromt he packaging though. F shank are all the same size, and cherrytree was correct when she mentioned that f-shank are the correct probes for that epilator. If the packaging are labelled f2…then they are f shank probes and the correct ones.
