Pockmark scars?

I’ve had 5 electrolysis treatments on my facial hair. We’ve been focusing on cheeks/jaw/chin area right now. I go in for an hour every 2 weeks. It has been 3 months since I started treatment. I have dark, thick hairs that I know need a lot of juice to kill them.

My question is about the skin in some of the areas that have been treated. There are what looks like mini-craters, very slight indentations in the skin with slight hyper-pigmentation, like in many of the follicles where the probe was inserted. I don’t know if this is normal in regards to healing at this point. I can put up with it if this is just a normal part of healing, but if it’s an indication something needs to be changed, I’d like to address it with my electrologist.

My camera isn’t the greatest, but I can try and get a picture if it’s necessary.

I know the word “slight” is subjective. I’m not super beauty conscious or anything, so I’m not pointing out barely visible marks. They are enough that my skin has an uneven tone, certainly.

Hairs do grow from openings in the skin…and depending on the skin it can look like an orange peel, parchment paper, or any texture between the two.

I’m trying to picture craters AND hyperpigmentation together, because in my experience skin does one or the other, but not both… What I will “guess” is that the texture issue is temporary - part of the healing process. (I’m not saying they never go together, though.)

What is your skin like? Do you have super oily skin, or do you have fine and delicate skin? What has the healing process been like for you? Are you bright red and swollen after a treatment with pimples occurring within days after the treatment?

I always hope that consumers talk to the electrologist providing the treatments as well as here on hairtell. I realize it might be easier to ask anonymously, but we all (electrologists included) need to be able to answer all concerns in a friendly manner…

I did talk to my electrologist right after posting this, as I had an appointment the next night. She said that any skin conditions I’m presenting are temporary. My skin does remain red for several days following treatment, though no pimples. There are some small scabs, though certainly not on all the follicles that are treated. She says that my skin is a bit delicate and sensitive (though my pain tolerance is high). I have thick, dark hairs that were previously laser treated, plus the sensitive skin, so it’s kinda a recipe for temporary and minor skin damage, I suppose.

From what you wrote, I would say there is NOTHING to worry about! You can submit pictures if you want, but al, sounds perfectly normal .
