PLZ ADVIZ before tommorow! LAser Alma ?

For those who have been reading my many long posts i am out of town and checking out laser and electro options. Have only a few days left here . So far electro is going well but no luck on the laser side.

Today found a place which has a laser called Alma,( Hair free, IN-Motion and Dual Chill ) which they claim is laser diode and they will charge me 125 to do lower arm which is all i am looking to have done.

I have to cancel by tomorrow at 2 of i will be charged a fee. I don’t have enough time to do adequate research and am limited for internet time here too.
So hoping someone on this board can advise if this laser is worth trying for this one treatment on my arms or would you suggest i wait and do this treatment with the Coolglide yag at home? I have light skin and the coolglide place at home said they dont have any luck with lower arms but i can try. May be a better option to try this Alma?? MAybe this laser would be better , stronger settings than the yag coolglide ?
I LOOK FORWARD TO ANY COMMENTS!
I REALLY APPRECIATE THE HELP

I realise that ALma is the company name but i kept asking them the laser name and they would say alma. In the brochure it says Pain Free Hair Free as though that might be the name? NOthing is STRAIGHTFORWARD in the land of LHR!!

From the searching i did do i am confused…they said it is diode but online i find this …Pain-Free, Hair-Free uses the most successful photoepilation wavelength (810 nm), which makes it the gold standard for laser hair removal. In addition, a patented DualChill™ mechanism ensures the surface of your skin stays cool and even more comfortable throughout your treatment. IS THAT DIODE?? SOUNDS LIKE IPL?
and this…How it works:
Pain-Free, Hair-Free works by using pulses of infrared diode laser energy to gradually heat the hair follicles in the subdermal layer of skin until they can no longer produce new hair. DOES THIS MEAN TRUE DIODE? Using unique, IN-Motion™ technology and a patented DualChill™ treatment tip, the surface of your skin stays cool and comfortable. The sweeping motion also eliminates any skipped or missed spots common to other types of laser hair removal.

and i found this info- Pain-Free, Hair-Free™ is laser hair removal at its finest and is only available on the Soprano®XLi system by Alma Lasers. SO it must be the Soprano®XLi but i still dont know if it is ipl or diode!

called this morning and it is definitely the HArmony XLi . Any input would be appreciated .

guess there is no comments on this laser…oh well! Take care out there everybody…

There are a bazillion lasers and IPL’s on the market. To comment on specific lasers on this board requires the expertise of laser specialists willing to give freely of the their time, like electrologists do in regard to electrolysis questions here. The question should be, where are the laser specialists paying forward to answer questions? You may find more help on the cosmetic enhancements forum that has a laser bent and is funded by the laser industry (perhaps?)

I would like to see more balance and have asked a few laser specialists if they would mind answering some questions about laser, but they have their reasons for not participating. I will continue to ask around.

If you go to the search feature and type in the laser you are curious about, I am almost certain that you will find information about it from past posts.

You can search the Internet like I did. Here is an example of what you might discover.

When you called and they told you it was the XLi, did you ask if it had diode? I don’t think it is. If they’re not being upfront with you you can always cancel and then re-schedule for another time, right? I think it’s IPL.

But i mean, what in the heck is AFT?

But at some point in this chart they mention alexandrite, which is laser.

and here someone gives their opinion on AFT hair removal:

Well i went in and it was pretty bad ! On the phone i was told it was a soprano xli and that it was diode. I went in for my appointment and there was zero info or consult! Though i had never been there before and had only booked an appointment i thought there would have been some explanation or consult type preamble. Nope, she just expected me to jump up and start! I noticed the machine said only soprano xl and there was no xli , i asked abut this but she had no idea and said i could ask the owner once he was in. She just kept saying she had been experinced and that it was the machine they talked about on the doctor show, which i have never heard of as i watch little to no tv. I hadnt been given any info when i booked, including i was not informed to shave prior and only had remebered that on my own about an hour ahead. I shaved the area but left a little patch so she could see it and make any settings that she deemed appropriate. When i was there she just wanted me to sign a form and quickly go, no questions, no explainations. When i told her i had not been advised to shave and had just done that on my own accord before the appointment and showed her the tiny pathc she said she had only 15 minutes before the next person and that there was no rasor available to shave that tiny patch. It was a big expenisve salon that does tons of treatments and not a rasor in the place! She also said it might burn due to my recent razoring of the area. She also had no idea anything about the machine. She did not know what diode, or yag or ipl even meant! When i found a razor and proceded her settings were super low(will find them later and post) i aksed because my skin is light and no tan could the settings be the highest as possible to due the nessesary damage to the follicle. She siad she uses these settings on everyone and never changes it. It was something like 10 j which i know is super low. My overall impression is that gullible women who watch these tv shows flood in for the treatment and they make tons of money. They have
Iittle to no research done or expert knowledge. Thye keep the settings super low so that there are no issues and women get possibly a temp hair removal like an different sort of waxing treatment. I was once again a serious dispointment and i am beggining to feel that MANY in this industry anre busy scamming people while they can. In smaller centres where there are not many or any good options money is being made while people are fed the dream.

Machine showed flu of 10 . The area of the machine that listed energy went up to 23 but mostly remained way under that. She had no idea what spot size was even thouhg she claimed her expertise and experience
.
