Please help!!!

Hi,

I went for a session with an electrolysis today. My concern is that it seemed like plucking and I am worried that she was not doing it right and I will just be wasting my money.

I looked at the hairs once she was done and they looked broken off and not removed by the bulb.

My question is even with thermolysis should the hair slide out of the follicle after treatment instead of feeling like she is pulling it out?

Also, should I go for blend or thermolysis alone?

Thanks,

If it has been treated properly, it will slide out with thermolysis also.

As for which, it really depends on the skill of the electrologist. If he/she is more comfortable with Blend and has better skill with it, then that’s the way to go (if there is no alternative electrologist).

Mine can use both proficiently so what she uses depends on what she thinks will be most effective for the hair structure. She mostly uses thermolysis on finer hairs to clear the area faster.

Sounds like plucking to me maybe look lesewhere or express your concerns.

Is the hair that grows after first clearance prickly like the hair that grows after waxing, if the electrolysis is done properly?

SadK - after first clearance you will still have hairs from other hair cycles come through and they may well be prickly. Once all the hairs in the all the hair cycles have been zapped at least once, you should notice a difference in the texture of most of the hairs.

If the electrologist is good, some hairs will get killed first time (first zap), many will get finer and some will be stubborn and may come back coarse a few times.

Overall, you will definitely notice a marked difference in a few months if you are going regularly and attempting to clear quickly and the maintaining the work.

SadK - from my experience, it is not as bad as waxing because less comes in at the same time, but it really depends on the hair in the area you are having treated. If the hair is relatively fine (like facial hair), then it should not be prickly at all. I seem to remember your hair is fine, so I do not think you would have a problem.

With coarse hair on the body, it is a bit worse, and I also get ingrown hairs, as with waxing. The good news is that after a few clearances, even on very coarse hair, there is a noticeable difference and it is not all growing back at the same time so it is not nearly as bad!

Thanks.

I really don’t know what to do. I would treat hair on upperback and shoulders, they are fine but not as fine as they were, it seems to me that they are getting coarser.
As it’s summer, and I will go to the seaside for a vacation (really can’t imagine myself on the beach, but don’t want to destroy plans with bf), I am afraid they will be prickly…
The good news is that I’ve found an electrologist that is not too far, so maybe I’ll treat a small area first, to see how it goes…
But it shouldn’t be pricklier than it is now, right?

And one more question. What do you think of not getting a full clearance, but zapping from a larger area, more noticeable ones? Does that make sense and will I avoid prickliness that way?

SadK, I don’t think you will have a problem. They will definitely not be pricklier than currently.

After Laser, I had a mixture of semi-coarse and fine hairs on my underarms. I am finishing up with electrolysis (almost there!). I had first clearance and then I didn’t even notice when the hairs started coming back through as they felt more or less downy.

I think what you have suggested is a good idea. It will save money as you may find out that you don’t need every single hair removed to feel good. Just aim to get all the noticeable ones cleared asap, then you can re-assess.
