Plain old hairy hetero's back

Hello, I thought I would post about my experience with removing the hair on my back and upper arms (tricep area).
Ugh. For me the hair was psychologically stunting. I did not like having hairy shoulders and back and my wife did not like it. It finally became a top priority for me. I sought out a laser style practicioner. I spent about $800 for 4 sessions with very small results. LEARN: A reduction in hair is still not much of an improvement because you still look like you have a hairy back! OK? Meanwhile my wife and I became happily divorced. I went looking or the best treatment bacause (face it guys) not matter how nice, or good looking you are … a hairy back is a huge turn off except for those with a hair fetish. From that piont I discovered this website, then I realized that laser was probably not going to work for me. (PS laser hurts just as much as any treatment … your back is very sensitive probably the most sensitive part of your body) OK so I found Electrology 2000 in Dallas TX. They are OK but I have spent about $12K over the past year and my back is still not done. My back is much, much better. I am probably down to 25% of the hair that I orginally had. But hairy is hairy. It still doesn’t look good. Basically you either have hair or you don’t. Electrolsysis hurts (physically and financially)but it has been worth it for me. But it is a slow process. I probaly have another 5 k to spend before my hair gets to a very low and acceptable level. I don’t think I will get lizard skin but at least I can take my shirt off at he pool or on the boat. I can post more details but I wanted to let men know that the process is slow, expensive but worth it. God I hope someone finds a faster way in the future I have two boys and I want them to enjoy all the pu… they can.

good luck

Yeahhhh. Um. Weird post.

Anyway, most people aren’t that shallow. I know that if I find someone attractive, I don’t don’t give a fig about their body hair. Yes, even back hair. Don’t care a lick.

Deenah, I am totally with you.

I mentioned on another post that this forum can be a little misleading in that it attracts those who have a hair problem and those who detest hair so if you don’t keep this in mind, you begin to think that hair is disgusting. Well I have some news, it’s not.

If you are in love with someone, the hair on that back will not matter to you. But I’m talking true love. The OP ended up divorcing (I’m sorry to hear that) but he did mention that his ex hated the hair. Hmmm… See, if you had a woman who was crazy about you, she’d love every ounce.

Gentlemen, get a grip. Save your money for your children’s education and work on your minds. The brain is a sexy beast when you know to use it.

Funny thing. I had a girlfriend who spent our entire relationship trying to talk me into doing head to toe hair removal on myself. Of course, there are only a very few people I would be willing to let near my face, and because of that, it is still not finished. How could she think I would be able to find anyone to do all that work on my body?

The truth is, I don’t care to remove my body hair, and although she always made sure I knew she did not like it, she still loved me just the same… Ok maybe not totally the same

True, but…we are entitled to our own opinion as well as removing it. I, being only 21, plan to have my unwanted hair removed before I am out on my own and have other expenses and less time to get something like this done.

If plenty of women can choose to rid their selves of unwanted hair (be it on the lip, arms, bikini area) than a man should be able to remove his as well. Fact.

(But yes, a significant other - or anybody else who desires to be one - should learn to love the other person regardless.)

Hi:

Just a comment. E-2000 is generally used by transsexuals since they are very trans friendly. They are probably a bit pricier too than some other establishments. For someone who is just a plain hetero as the name implies, they could probably get that work done cheaper somewhere else.

Even for a trans person, I have found that most electrolygists have no problem with that, and often the issue lies with our fear to tell them.

I think that getting rid of hair is personal, and you don’t need to justify that to anyone.

Preferring body hair on males is a personal matter for women too. Just the other day my wife had a discussion with her hairdresser who loved hairless men, wheras my wife prefers hairy men. Some women are turned on by that.

Alicia

Yes, it absolutely is a personal preference as to whether one likes body hair or not, but…

I was self-concious about my back hair my whole life. The reason? People make fun of men with back hair and MANY (not all) women don’t like it. How many Ed Asner or Robin Williams jokes have you heard because they’re extra hairy? How many jokes did you hear when those pictures of Madonna were published with her unshaven armpits? Should armpit hair or leg hair on women be more socially acceptable? Maybe… but it isn’t. Just like overly hairy men.

Years after I had my back hair removed, I come to find that one of my best friends has been waxing his back for a long time! It seems it’s not as uncommon as people think. And I think it’s getting more common all the time.

Well said! People who want to remove excess body hair do not do it just to please others! If someone feels that they look and feel better without the excess hair, then that is reason enough.

One can work both on their mind and removing their excess body hair. They are not mutually exclusive. That was a rather ignorant comment on electrobaby’s part. Imagine the uproar if I were to say that good looking women tend to be airheads! Or if I started telling “dumb blonde” jokes.

Ummm, excuse me. But my comment was anything but ignorant. I find it very sad when people begin to be pre-occupied with vanity and not care enough about developing as a human being.

Perhaps you’re the ignorant poster. Thank you very much.

Everybody who visits this board does so because they have “problems” with their unwanted hair. That would put us all - male of female - in the same boat. We all are removing hair/desire to have hair removed for our own respective reasons, but if its vanity for one sex then it must be vanity for the opposite sex as well. However, I don’t think vanity is really the motive.

Also, if you are cautious about what shirts you wear or if you stay home while your friends go to the beach for the Fourth of July, you have any right to remove any hair you choose not to live with.

If you’re on this forum by your definition you are pre-occuppied with vanity too! And that means you do not care about developing as a human being.

BTW, I graduated from Engineering school at the top of my class. And I also hold a Master’s Degree.

No need to get snippy. I think Electrobaby and I were taking offense mostly with the implication that the original poster feared his sons would never “get p*ssy”, as he so eloquently stated, because they had some hair.

Well I go on my hands and knees to one with a masters. I guess my masters does not count.

Truly, I have no vanity problem - only a dreadful upper lip problem which this site has helped no end. If that makes me vain in your eyes, then so be it. I’ve met vain ppl and they are not particularly nice folk. Oh, and I think they accuse others of making “ignorant” comments

My dear, saying that I made an ignorant comment is offensive and you will win no friends with that nonsense. If you are as intelligent as you are trying to make out then use sensible language. We are all entitled to our own opinions. Yes? So that being so, I think you should be rightly chastised for lowering the tone of this thread.

Another thing, don’t try to justify yourself with egotistical grandstanding. Telling the world you have a masters degree lacks a certain element of class. Sorry to have to tell you this but I can ascertain what kind of background you hail from with comments like that.

Cheers for now!

Electrobaby went far beyond that with her last comment in her original post! This comment from electrobaby was directed at the male members of this forum as a whole:

This comment implies that we are stupid. And it was made in a lecturing tone. You bet there’s a need to get “snippy!”

Electrobaby, it’s your condescending attitude that lowered the tone of this thread.

The statement of my educational background is simply a response to your implication we are mindless. This is real egotistical grandstanding:

Sorry to have to tell you this but I can ascertain what kind of background you hail from with comments like that.

I have no problem with you or anyone else stating their opinions on body hair. But when you talk down to those who don’t share the same opinion with a condescending attitude, that’s what I have a problem with.

RJC2001

That is enough of this.

Don’t make me send you both to your rooms with no full clearance.

Let’s keep it to Hair Removal here. If you want to rip each other and trade insults, you can do that to your hearts content via the Personal Message feature of this board. No need for the rest of us to be in on this.

I’m actually punishing myself for an indefinite amount of time because I was so rude to fellow poster poonanii, last week. Except for this post tonight, I thought I should not post on hairtell for awhile because I didn’t represent this great site, let alone, myself very well. I think my bitchy behavior was sparked by being with my mother-in-law for a whole week and watching too many “ROSANNE” re-runs.

I knew that what I said to poo was wrong and e-mailed him to ask his forgiveness. We’ve had a couple of good private messages exchanged and all is well. What about you guys? Sometimes it’s hard to back up and start over, but it truly feels good.

With humility,

Dee

Hey Ya’ll, no worries about whatever. Vanity is a good thing! Right? We would all be long haired, bearded, snotty, poorly dressed, brown toothed, stinky, bad haircut, animals without a little grooming …right? Remember ‘vanity’ is just another word for ‘well-groomed’.

This site for which I am highly grateful for is a wonderful thing; dedicated to helping people find a solution to a ‘hairy’ problem. Just look at the ‘EBAY warning’ thread.

Look I don’t set the standards for beauty but I have to follow the fashions if I want to play the game.

Don’t worry my kids will be going to 4 year schools with or without your advice.

OK so back to getting rid of the hair!

1 Laser was not very effective for my back.

2 I tried to get Fino to do my back but he said to find someone in my area.

3 I used Electrology 2000 because they use lidocaine (injections)to kill the pain which allows them to work on the body for a whole day.

4 It took 9 months (about 7sessions of 9:30 am - 6pm, with a 1 hour braek) for 2 electrologists at each session to clear my back and arms in one day. As far as I am concerned they work very very hard.

5 Electrology 2000 is more expensive but the cost of lidocaine is included.

 1. The injections (40+ a day) add up to a lot of pain but not near as much a whole day of electrolsysis on my back.

… more to the post

 1. The process is slow but I am seeing great results after a year. But I have become very frustrated at points. Seeing a lot of hair on back a week after spending $1,400 is frustrating.

 2. Thank you to james walker and fino for laying out the truth about hair removal.

 3. I know that I have typos in this post and I do not care.

May everyone who wishes to be free of active follicles be so…

RJC2001, let’s call it a day. We don’t obviously like one another but I could not give two hoots to be frank. I have better things to do with my time (do you???).
