Pitted scars, what to do now??

Hi,

I posted a while back about my scars from electrolysis. They are obvious mainly around the mouth area. At the time (some months ago), the scars were still healing and I was not sure what they were.

I was advised by this forum to go back to my elecrtologist and talk to her. I did this and she assured me she was 100% sure these were not scars, but blackheads!!!

So, I foolishly continued the treatment, only to get more of these holes around my mouth and cheeks!

I am so depressed. I had almost flawless skin…

Now, I am sure these are pits, because as they heal, they are looking more and more like holes that did not fill up…I also tried squeezing a few to see if they were blackheads. I only ended up irritating the area, and one of the holes bled, but nothing will come out… they are NOT blackheads!!

I’m sure others have gone through this already. I need advice on what treatments can remove these scars – if any??

Thanks for any help!

Jen
p.s. the scars are now about 5 months old

Yes, it was foolish to continue treatments with her, especially when your instincts were telling you that these marks were not blackheads. You would think that if a client came to an electrologist expressing worry and concern about healing outcome that didn’t resolve for many days that she would wake up and not repeat her mistakes over again. Did you stay with electrologist “A”? (previous post)

Can you provide a quality picture? Also, can you give some kind of timeline here. How many treatments did you have after you posted your first concerns here? Did you continue with more treatments even while your skin was still healing from a previous treatment? If you did, the electrologist should have known better.

There are remedies that can probably help you, but that advice needs to come from a physician that can examine the area. It can take up to 18 months for skin to restructure itself,so maybe that will occur naturally for you.

Is the hair gone?

Jen D;
It does sound like the skin may be pitted, which is caused by overtreatment of an area of skin. I have not had occassion to try the following yet, but was told from an electrology instructor in Monteray, California; that using pure galvanic current has been used by her to restore pitted skin.
Like I have said, I have not tried this myself, but have only heard it from an instructor who was trying to get me to attend her school that specializes in the Blend Technique. Maybe it will be of some help.

Jen, for the love of God please stop squeezing your skin and go see a doctor/derm. The black marks may possibly be embedded hairs, or ‘tombstones’ (treated roots that are working their way to the surface) but really you need a professional to tell you what to do.
