Pinpoint marks

Hi I posted a while back about my electrolysis experience. The time between my last session and when I began noticing tiny pinpoint bumps on each follicle was about three months. Some of the bumps appeared earlier some later in that time frame. After the bump appeared, maybe 2weeks to a month later tiny hair also appeared. I still have these bumps on each and every single follicle. I am obviously quite concerned. Does anyone know what these could be and if/how they will resolve. I have not had any treatment since. I have used retin a micro and that seems to help decrease the size of the bumps. I have noticed that when I wash my face and my skin dries out most of these bumps disappear or shrink in size and my skin appears smooth. When they are larger my skin has a pebbly appearance.

I had ~ 10 treatments about 40-60 min every 2-3weeks. The area treated was my upper lip.

Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you.

retin a is probably too strong for an area that is having electrology treatment. Why not let the area heal by itself for a while?

I’m going with emiliy’s statement as a general rule (not absolute).

There is something in all of us: the intense instinct to “put something on a wound, something to ‘make it heal better,’ so scars won’t form, to make it heal faster …”

There is no way of convincing anybody that some product won’t make it better. I’m not immune either; I do it too. However, unless there is a specific reason to use a product, as emilily implies, your skin manifestation will take care of itself: with no help from either Procter & Gamble, or Yogi Krishnacreamonawanda.

In the long-run, no product has been independently proven to make any real difference. (And yes, I have read those “scientific papers.” NOT buying it!) However, the use of the wrong product at the wrong time can certainly screw things up. (And, that’s mostly what I have seen.)

Over the years I’ve conducted numerous classes and seminars. After a 1-hour or 2-hour lecture, on all sorts of topics, the first question that is always asked is, “Mr. Bono, what do you recommend putting on the skin afterward?” Nobody is ever satisfied with soap & water.

I’m sort of preparing something on this subject and will post it if anybody’s interested. The first subject is about “gluing the epidermis and causing pustules.”

Nobody’s really interested in my long-winded crapola … but, if there is any interest I will finish up the article. It will not change anybody’s mind because it’s “what we do!” Still …

Dee, I dont remember if you said in another thread, what modality of electrolysis you had treatment with? Thermolysis? Blend? You should include high resolution pictures on this thread, and a lot more can be addvised you by the pros here.

I dont want to say because I’m not 100% certain, but it almost sounds like the practitioner was using themolysis and making too shallow of insertions which brings up the possibility of damage to the tissues in the perilous zone.I’m not 100% sure on long term effects and couldnt even hazard a guess without seeing first hand and even then a more experienced eletrologist could give you a much better opinion but the eggshell effect you describe seems consistent with this hypothesis and has been talked about here before. So does the fact that each site is producing a hair, this would indicate the thermolysis energy didnt adequately destroy the root.

For the best advice, post a picture of the affected area and let the pro’s weigh in.

Seana

Thanks for the responses! I Have not had treatment since about 8 months ago. I am not sure which method was used. I held a metal rod though. The bumps are also a yellowish white color. I hope it is not tissue damage as you described Seana. Have others experienced a change in the appearance of the bumps? I.e decrease or increase in size? Would it disappear with application of products? I have seen the bumps decrease in size with the retin A. They are kind of shaped like comedomes… Unfortunately they are difficult to capture on camera.
