Permanent back hair removal

Hi,

I am an Asian Indian male with skin type-IV and wanted to get rid of back hair. Can anyone suggest which is better for permanent hair removal; laser or electrolysis?? How much will it cost?

My hair is very dense, coarse and dark.

I am in San diego, California. I would appreciate if someone has recommendations for any practitioner.

Thanks,
Sanjeev

Since your hair is dense, coarse, and dark, you should start with laser. With your skin type, you should only be using a Yag type of laser (like GentleYAG, Coolglide, Sciton, etc). Others have recommended Scripps Clinic in SD before. However, I would still check out 4-5 clinics with a Yag laser to find someone who knows what they’re doing and is interested in your results, not just money. Check out Candela Corporation website and run a provider search to find clinics with GentleYAG near you. Keep in mind that you’ll need 8-10 effective treatments on this area to remove a large majority of the hair, but you may need electrolysis to finish up on the fine sparse hairs that will remain. Laser will knock out most of the dark coarse hair for you.

i have been going to the American Laser centers that use the Laser Lightsheer Diode by Lumins and after 4 treatments i have about 75% gone. i am white and when i started out my back was essentially totally covered with coarse dark hair.
so i suggest doing the same.

I would be cautious of that specific clinic. Most of their centers don’t use LightSheer anymore. And the customer service at the majority of their locations is not great if you read reviews here. Tom’s clinic is an exception in terms of that.

hmmm, i guess i got lucky. the 2 ive gone to in oregon use that laser. eugene and portland. so i guess if you guys are in those areas go there.

Thanks for sticking around and helping out TomGraham. It is posters like you that allowus to help so many people around the world.

Thanks for the information guys. I will give it a try and post my experiences.
