Pepper spot s?

When I have my laser treatment they say to shave the area a few days before, but i have found after laser I then get Pepper spots that take ages to come out and look unslightly.
But when I have laser on area’s where the hair is left longer that shrivells up to a hard tuft where after a week i can get hold of it with tweezers and it comes away cleanly, with a lovely smooth finish. then that area is clean for about 10 weeks.
So why does the hair have to be shaved ? can I request to have it done on longer hair.
The only downside that I can see is that you get a burning smell.
The lady did say that the shorter the hair the more effective it is getting to the root, but if you still get results on longer hair does it realy matter?

Leaving the hair too long:

  • causes the laser to waste energy on the hair above the skin
  • can potentially cause burns of the skin as the laser is burning off the hair above the skin

Shedding takes 3 weeks. Exfoliating helps and scrubbing gently in the shower. You shouldn’t be risking burns and lower effectiveness.

I have had minor marks on my skin where long hairs (1/2" or more) were singed by the laser. This was from a few hairs that were missed by the razor. The marks are not permanent and cleared up quickly, but it was noticeable to me.
