Lots of great suggestions on the pain management page. To those I’d add making sure you’re well nourished. I wouldn’t go to an appointment immediately after eating, but I find that if I neglect to eat and am really hungry, I tend to be much more susceptible to pain than if I’ve kept my body properly nourished throughout the day.

I tell people all the time that good hydration, nutrition, and 8 hours of restful sleep make a difference in sensation of pain, but it seems that few people believe me.

Of course, the military and penal institutions always feed the prisoners poorly, and treat them to sleep deprivation, so what does that tell you?

If nothing else, being low on your B vitamins would cause one to experience more pain. Funny how one of the negative side effects of caffeine is destruction of b vitamins in the body.
