Packages for LHR?

Do you find that packages are worth it when getting Laser hair removal done?.. Besides the money saving, the packages often offer touch ups for free… the place I am currently getting treatments at offers touch up in between sessions (so after my 6 sessions are over… I can only get one touch up) I have been paying per treatment but considered getting a package… I just don’t know if it’s really worth it? How often did you find you needed touch ups in between/after all your treatments were done?

It’s really up to you. If you’ve already been going for treatments and getting good results there then a package isn’t bad since you’ll save money. We caution against getting a package right off the bat though without having at least 1 treatment there, since you may find the clinic does a poor job. My clinic doesn’t offer packages it’s only pay per session. I’ve never had to go in for touch ups in between sessions except on my chin/upper lip. Not due to them, just hair on a guys face is a pain to remove and I find it needs 2 sessions to clear chin/upper lip but they re-do it for me for free anyway. I just find it funny when they say “free touchups in between” like touchups for what? If they did their job properly you shouldn’t need touchups. To me that always sounds like they’re saying “we’ll do a quick job on you, and if we miss anything then you can come back in and we’ll do it again wasting your time and ours” vs just doing it right the first time.

If you know that the place is competent and has reputation then I would just get the package deal. If you’re not sure about the place, I would get 1 session to see the results and go from there. But in general, package deals do save you money. Who would mind the “free” touch ups offers,(though I’m sure it’s calculated into the package price). Even the best techs can and will probably miss some spots especially covering large areas in 1 session.

Why should you need a package though to get a touchup? If you’re paying to have an area treated and they miss a spot, the touchup should be free since you already paid to have it. My clinic doesn’t do packages, but if I ever have issues they always do touchups for free no question, not even a fight or anything. In fact I’ve even been there once before and we started talking while she was treating me then she suddenly forgot if she hit a small section maybe 1 inch by 1 inch. She said we either leave it and I can come back in and get it redone free, or take a chance and do it again, so I said do it again right then because I was pretty sure it was missed. It’s not like by touchup they mean they’re going to redo the whole area, it’s just spots that were missed. So don’t think of touch ups as being “free” sessions in between, because if there’s THAT much hair missed that they need to do the whole thing again then you have bigger problems…

Just a quick edit to this, you need to look at the overall pricing though as some clinics build their price based on packages. Meaning they say okay for legs we’ll do the price at $$$. Then they say without a package lets add $$$ to that price, where as others set the price, then will give a discount based on a package. So really depends on how they’re setting pricing. ie $400 in a package vs $600 without or something.

Packages are usually a good deal. The only problem with them is trusting someone and committing without knowing whether they’re competent. Once you find a clinic that’s competent, then there is no problem with getting one. Some more honest clinics also refund unused portions of the package. I would recommend to do one treatment and then buy a package if everything looks good. And I would not get a package of more than 6 treatments at a time since you may not need more.

I’ve yet to find a clinic here that honors free touch ups (no matter what they say at the consult, ARGH!), but I have found a clinic that gives you a package deal without making you commit to a package.

Basically, if you come in for three treatments, # 4 is free. That’s a great deal, and you don’t have to buy all three sessions in advance. You can buy one at a time if/when you need it, and they just keep track in your file.

So yeah, you buy treatments a la carte. But after a certain number, you get the equivalent of a package discount. I like that policy.

Maybe the first 3 cost as much as 4 so it looks like they are giving you discount?

No, the first three are cheap as heck ($100 for both legs and $150 for full brazillian bikini with as much free numbing cream as you need). Cheapest prices I’ve found within driving distance, especially for the GentleLASE using such terrific settings.

I would be going because of the low prices even if they DIDN’T offer a free treatment, absolutely.

Since it’s not a package, they can’t “make up the cost” of the fourth by making the first three too much money, because that means all the people who just need one or two treatments will go somewhere else. They are catering to the people who purchase individually, while still rewarding the people who go 4 times. It’s a good plan, they’ve got lots of business it appears.

I don’t recall, but I hope you recommended them here in this section and in the Referrals section of the forum. Sounds great.

I’m not sure I recommend them yet to a general audience. They don’t do touch ups despite promising to on the phone and there were a few other problems (like what I PMed you about a while back, if you recall). However, whenever someone posts for recommendations in this area, I do PM them with the info or post my recommendation in the personal thread.

I’ve only had two treatments with them total (on my bikini), so I have not concluded anything other than their prices are low and they are willing to use high settings on me. I’d feel bad if I posted a blanket recommendation this early before getting my arms and armpits done later in the month, if that makes sense.
