Package of 6 or package of 8?

Having read the helpful FAQs and posts on this site, I am currently setting up consults with clinics that have Alex lasers and hope to make a purchasing decision shortly after the 4th of July.

Most of the clinics I have called have package discounts, but the number of sessions in a package varies, so I’m confused. Two of them told me that have a package for 6 treatments, one place has one for seven treatments, and the other place has one for 8 treatments.

Please help guide me as to how this should factor in to my purchasing decision. I have consults scheduled for next week.

In general, I wouldn’t recommend buying a package at first. I would recommend picking one smaller area and do one treatment without any committment to see how shedding goes. This is especially recommended if they won’t do a test spot.

Do ou have coarse dense hair? What areas are you treating? On average, most people need 6-8 treatments. But things depend on how coarse the hair is, whether you stick to the schedule, whether the settings are high from the start, etc. I would always go for less treatments rather than more if you have to pre-pay and work out some type of a cost for any additional treatments that could be necessary. On many areas, you’ll be happy after 6 treatments. Also, consider the fact that after a number of treatments, remaining hair will become too fine to be affected by laser. So you don’t want to end up having too many, unless they could potentially apply them to other areas etc. The biggest concern should be prepaying and then going for treatments that don’t produce any shedding and results…and to find yourself stuck.

Thank you so much for your advice. I have coarse dark hair. I want to do full bikini and legs. I also wanted to consider my upper lip but am concerned the hairs there may be too fine- how do I determine that?

Most female per lip hair has smaller hair structures than the hair that grows on areas like the bikini line or underarms. Also, there are varying colors of hair that range from no color to black.

Electrolysis may be better for you upper lip. A skilled electrologist can breeze through an upper lip case, especially if she or he has a good set up with quality epilator, magnification and lighting.

Bikini and legs respond great to laser. For most women, upper lip is best treated with electrolysis, especially since treating finer hair on the face can stimulate more hair to grow there.
