Overwhelmed

Hi, I want to buy a machine to tackle predominately leg hair (I’m male) and with success there moving onto other parts of the body. But I’m struggling - I’ve tried getting through the ‘ebay’ threads, but there’s so much info and most of the links are dead now.
Also I am in Australia, so I need to find one that will post to here. From what I’ve read I understand that perhaps around $500US might get me a decent machine.
Please if you can point me in the right direction, or give me some tips it would be appreciated.

Shaun

Have you ever had electrolysis? I am trying to determine how much knowledge of it you have.

I have had a test patch done before by a professional.

Have you seen the thread called, Legitimate electrolysis machines for sale on e bay? Also what treatment method did you have?

Hi. Yes like I said, most of the links in that thread are dead, so its hard to see what people are talking about, plus the thread is HUGE (part 1-3) overload of information.
I don’t know what the treatment was called, but it was inserting a needle, electric shock and remove hair with tweezers - she showed me the hair and showed me the little white cells at the end of it.

Doing electrolysis yourself is not an easy task. You need to be dedicated enough to learn how to do insertions properly to actually kill the hair and not scar yourself. This can take a while and requires quite a bit of patience. Most people don’t have it.

The most basic cheap machine that works is One Touch. Other than that, you’re looking at a used professional machine. There is an entire thread on the forum that’s called “Legitimate electrolysis machines for sale on eBay”. That’s what Christine is referring to. Even if the links are dead, the names of the machines are still valid. Plus, that thread is being updated continuously. The best way to ask your question is to post the names and links of machines you’re considering there so professionals can take a look.

Btw, with $500, you can get 2-3 professional treatments on your legs which could get rid of up to 70% of your male leg hair. I had 3 treatments on my lower legs and removed 60-70%. Whatever is left is so sparse and fine that I only shave once every 1.5-2 weeks and it doesn’t bother me at all.

Thanks. Are you talking about laser treatments? I’ve had that done with not very good results.
It’s upper legs for me, but it’s alot of hair.

I am thinking of buying a one touch, as they are very cheap and starting off with that, practising a little and then deciding about buying a machine or just getting treatments. Is a one touch actually a needle that you insert then zap?
Here is one on ebay - is this it?

If the hair is coarse, laser will work if it’s a good machine with good settings. We explain this in the FAQs below. You don’t mention the type of hair.

I’m not familiar with all the different One Touch machines. But others here should be able to help. You should post that link in that Legitimate Electrolysis Machines thread.

Yes, that will permanently remove hairs and has a needle. It is good to practice on.

The needle is very big and bends really easily; they are expensive to replace. It will take you ages to do a small patch of leg, but as you say you only want this to practice on.

I wonder if it is worth your having your legs waxed first and then treating the hairs as they grow back as this only works on hairs in the growing phase, but I’m no expert.

New hair or anagen hairs have more moisture than the shedding or telogen hairs, so doing galvanic electrolysis does work better with the moisture that is present with those GROWING hairs.

Ok. So is this one touch model (above link) the one I want?

Looking at the photo again I think that this is the One Touch Painless Tweeze, which is not what you want as it has tweezers and not a needle, & will not permanently remove hair.

The one you want looks like this:

& the replacement probes look like this:

is there any that aren’t battery operated. Seems like I’ll go through a few batteries.

You are starting to see why we advise one to get a used pro unit.

for cost, you are better off building, or having one built with the plans made by No-Hair, or getting a used scammy vector device (don’t pay the crazy overpriced charge for a new one) and modifying it with an actual probe/needle holder.

then you have something that plugs into a wall, and accepts professional probes in professional sizes.

Thanks - I have heard about this building one thing, but the links to plans are dead. Can you tell me a bit more about this, or post a link? Thank you!

I’d like to see the plans too, sounds interesting.
