Hi, just after some general advice on what would be the most effective settings for the last 2 treatments in a package of 6 I originally purchased. Really happy with clinic and sure they’ll propose the right thing, but I just like to be well informed :slight_smile:

7 weeks post the 4th treatment and the vast majority of hair is gone. The regrowth is quite fine and soft. My treatments thus far have being with the max spot and joules possible for my skin type and this has being really effective. For me this has being 18 Spot & 18j on candella gentlelase laser.

To try and catch the remaining fine hair, are they best to decrease the spot size and increase joules? Also does the joule increase substantially increase the risk of burns or does it kinda ‘level out’ with the spot decrease ie I can’t help thinking this is analogous to camera shutter & aperture speed which have a range of settings that let the same amount of light through, but with diff results :slight_smile:

If so, then for a smaller spot, what kind of settings would be equivilent to 18j, 18 spot ?

The good news is you are using the right laser and you can’t go higher than 20j with that 18mm spot size. I’m currently doing 16j for chest/abs full legs.

The bad news here is, 7 weeks is nothing when it comes to being able to tell how well it took. It’s more like 9 months after your last treatment.

Oh, just noticed where you are getting zapped, 18j’s there wow, I’ve been thinking about that area but ouch. Stick with what you are doing, you are not going to get rid of 100% of hairs, you will always have the fine hairs and new hairs will come in, but it will never be the same.

Your legs, bump up that setting to at least 16j, 12 does nothing and if you can handle 18j on your junk then you can handle 18j on your legs.

Why only 3 treatments on your legs? You might get 20% reduction out of that.

Is it better to go higher than 20j with a smaller spot or just continue with 18 spot &18j ?

For the record, after 3 treatments on my leg, I probably had closer to 40-50% reduction with a Gentlelase at 18mm/16J

First try with 18mm 20j and see how your skin handles that. Then even if your skin can handle 18mm/20j you should first do a test with 15mm because the energy will be more stronger with decreased spot and your skin can react bit different than higher settings on 18mm. How long are you waiting between treatments? 7 weeks after a treatment is not indicative of how much hair reduction you will see at the end. I’d say wait 10-12 weeks between treatments. Then within 3-4 months after your last treatment you will still see more hair growing in slowly and then evening out (hopefully.) You might want to consider doing couple more treatments after your 6th at 15mm to get those finer hair growth. I’ve had good reduction.

For the brazillian, I’ve waited a min of 8 weeks between treatments. Will def wait 12w for 5th treatment. Interesting that I need to wait so long post last to gauge effectiveness. As I started 6+ months ago, I was hoping all my hair had cycled through the anagen phase and being zapped. Will be interesting to see what happens and I’ll continue posting progress/updates :slight_smile:

I’m only hoping for a reduction on my legs - might consider more treatments depending on how much is left.

This is what I did. It’s funny because it will hit a certain point as it grows back where you’ll say “YES! THIS IS PERFECT!” And then it keeps growing and you have more than what you wanted.
