On my 7th session of Brazillian Bikini removal

Hi all,

I have fair skin and dark blonde hair/brown hair in some areas. I have had 7 sessions of laser hair removal on my bikini area (Brazillian style) about 6-8 weeks apart over the course of 1 1/2 years. I was treated with a GentleYAG laser. Not sure about the settings but I was told I was on the “highest” and “second highest” settings for my treatments. My last session was two weeks ago and I am seeing regrowth.

The first few treatments showed DRAMATIC results and I am left almost hairless for the most part. However, after my 7th treatment I still have growth in certain areas (the inner parts without getting graphic). Am I left with hair because of the lack of pigment? Or is it normal to need more than 7 sessions on the bikini area? Sessions are about $150 each so I don’t want to keep going if this is the best it is going to get.

You should some regrowth before the hair sheds I think. Ask for a clean up price! Sounds like the rest might have to be done by electrolysis.

Your hair typically thins out after multiple sessions. You could be at the point where you’re finished with laser because there is not enough melanin or the hairs are not thick enough to be substantially disabled/killed with the laser. You’re probably at the wait six months to a year stage to see if your treatments were truly effective! After that, if you’d like to be completely hairless, I would highly suggest getting clearances done with a skilled electrologist.

Thanks for the feedback. I have done electrolysis on my face and I can’t possibly fathom having that done on my inner private parts.
The hair is very fine so laser is probably no longer effective. Funny, when I ask the technician (who is co-owner of the clinic I go to) she kinda shrugs it off “Well some people need more than 6. See how it goes. You might want to come back.” I guess she feels no need to give a real assessment since being vague will keep me coming back.

Its as sensitive as you would think. I’ve had a little face work, ouch. I’d rather go through 2 hours of brazillian work before 2-3 under the nose hairs!

I’ve done electrolysis on my hair as well - I’d take that pain any day to having to spread my cheeks while someone skillfully zaps my hair down there.

Everyone handles pain differently, but I found that electrolysis down there was actually less painful than laser. I’ll bet that if you can handle laser in that area, you can do electrolysis.

Before you rule out electrolysis, maybe you should consider going in for a trial treatment to see just how painful it really is. I always take two Naproxins – any non-asprin pain reliever will do. That helps a lot. Good luck to you.
